You know, I'm ALL for women succeeding in sports, including sports broadcasting.

But....how the HELL does Doris Burke have a job? WTF?

Perhaps she's not that bad, but she has the personality of an f*g rock. It's not like she's banging the producer, unless it's a girl....

Just sayin'...??????

I don't get it.

I don't care how many bleach jobs they give her, she still has the personality of a rock.

Actually, I think her analysis is ok, but get an f*g personality. Geez!

Shelley Smith needs to step out of the Big Mac line.

Just sayin'.

It's very unusual to meet any American, inside or outside the booth, with a genuine personality. People here conform rather than individuate. That's true everywhere but it's more true in America than most places.

are you kidding?....are you saying that people from the west coast are like people from the south?...that east coasters are like mid-westerners?....texans are like new yorkers?...or san fransicans?....

we just had an election in which the country was split practically down the middle ideologically...actually the last 3 elections...

regional differences in america are less pronounced today than in the past, and that trend will continue.

the things the candidates and parties disagree on are insignificant in comparison to the things they agree on. but you can't question the assumptions underlying our system, even if they will lead to its demise, because they are surrounded by taboos, the breaking of which is met with extreme penalties.

dont hate the player, weasel, hate the game. yes its a dumb shophorn hoodism, but it fits. the machinery and what its geared to produce far outweighs the individual gobstppers.

you obviously haven`t been to europe....
i have and i speak more than one language, altho only english wellish. are you sure you have you been to america? what i'm saying is the same thing the french guy said when he came here in the 1800s - before mass media and interstates. he was right then, and much more so today.

I was a bit harsh last night. I don't really dislike Doris Burke, actually, I think she's better than a lot of analysts. I just don't like her monotone and lack of personality. I do find it amusing the multitude of "looks" they've given her to try and make her more appealing. Skills should be sufficient, but we all know looks and sports broadcasting go together, where women are concerned.

Shelley Smith is ok.

I will say, however, that I cannot stand JOE BUCK and the fawning look he gives to Troy Aikman. It's enough to make a grown man hurl. UGH. He's way worse than either Shelley or Doris. When he's on I have to turn off the sound. Not to mention, he looks like a little turd that needs to have his ass kicked.

"regional differences in america are less pronounced today than in the past, and that trend will continue".

couldn`t disagree more..i think regionally differences are every bit as pronounced...what we agree on is that our institutions of higher learning are turning out drones who are basically indoctrinated in one ideology...specializing in collectivism... in using our rights and freedoms to eliminate our rights and freedoms..they`re more like reeducation camps than schools...

and the pace of this craziness "may" increase at an alarming rate depending on the success of this administration......

nelson/"the things the candidates and parties disagree on are insignificant in comparison to the things they agree on. but you can't question the assumptions underlying our system, even if they will lead to its demise, because they are surrounded by taboos, the breaking of which is met with extreme penalties."

a little vague...you`ll have to be more specific...i don`t see much that the political parties agree on...

nelson/"dont hate the player, weasel, hate the game. yes its a dumb shophorn hoodism, but it fits. the machinery and what its geared to produce far outweighs the individual gobstppers."

i don`t hate you nelson...it`s all good,my friend....just disagree with your premise...

you obviously haven`t been to europe....

i really don`t know what the french guy said in the 1800`s...i do know that present day europe is "group think" central... last time i checked the e.u. includes almost all the major nations of europe and collectivism is the order of the day....

mom: "so how did your day go?..learn anything new?"
daughter: "just that you are a lackey tool of the capitalistic system."...
son: "we learned that capital is dead labor, which, vampire-like, lives only by sucking living labor"....

this might be a typical mother/child conversation in many socialist european capitols...but,aside from the extreme east and west coasts,i doubt you`ll hear anything quite like this in the south or the american heartland....

yet...:mj09:

i will agree that with this new administration we are heading in that direction...but we have a long way to go before we reach european lows....

there`s still a grand canyon-like split in opinion and belief in this country regarding politics/religion/governmental involvement in society(socialism vs capitalism) by region..........

that`s how i see it....it`s not as bad as you`re making out to be...

yet:mj09:

She may be dull but she knows hoops better than just about any analyst out there. She is the only female broadcaster I dont mind. Looks? Come on - she is on camera maybe 5 minutes a game - that isnt some big issue they have been working with.

i watched her do a live broadcast in Las Vegas (UNC v Louisville) a short while ago with Dickie V and crew and in person she carries herself well. She's tall and was always pleasant in her contacts. She was way more professional in her conduct than Dickie V..:mj07:

I don't disagree. I like the fact that she IS knowledgeable and got the job due to that - not her looks. Over the years, though, they have messed with her looks considerably. NO makeup, then lots of makeup, shorter hair followed by longer hair. Dark hair, now bleached blond.

Still, though, I wish she'd show a bit more personality. She's like the Troy Aikman of females. Good, but a little boring. I really like Aikman and like his analysis, it's just a bit dull.

However, I'll take that any day over the blowhards you usually hear who lack solid analysis and love to hear themselves talk.
