Looks like I'm going to the SEC basketball tourney next week. I am heading to Tampa on Thursday, 3/12, to meet my bi-annual continuing ed requirements. I figure that I may as well hold over for the weekend (as long as LSU remains in it). I'm thinking of staying at the Courtyard by Marriot, as it's located less than a mile from the St PeteTimes Forum. I'm sure the hotel will be just fine, but can anyone confirm that this area is a reasonable choice?

I'll be heading to The state theatre in St Petersburg to hear Papa Grows Funk Friday night, but am looking for a restaurant to try Saturday night. I am not concerned over the type of cuisine, as much as the quality of the food/experience. A brief web search led me to Pelagia and Bern's Steakhouse. Are either of these good choices?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

As a part time resident down here (and am here right now), I would suggest that you stay away from Bern's (VERY overpriced but nice) and go to Charley's Steakhouse on Cypress Street (close to Westshore). Unbelievealbe food and service - at a price a bit cheaper than Berns.

I lived on S. Howard across from Bern's and if you haven't been there, think French whorehouse with a great desert.

Charley's for sure. Will be down there myself next week but for work...

Enjoy the cities!

Sorry I missed you last week, but lost my Blackberry and got pushed into hanging out at the Harrahs event on Bourbon

Thanks for your hospitality Jack! :mj06:

Cie,

I have a very good friend in the area.... Drop me an e-mail and I will get back to you. She's worth the consultation fee, which I will take care of personally.... LOL

Just pray that you don't meet my boys from Memphis in the big dance. ;)

:SIB

p.s. If you've lost my e-mail, ask the boss and he will send it to you.... (Tell him you want to work addy, not the home addy, as I check it more frequently.)
