Bury it in rice in a ziplock baggie for a couple of days with the back off and battery out.
worked for my kids razr

put in oven very low heat
or put under heat lamp for a day...worked twice for wifes phone

Dropped mine in a lake...opened the back and let it air dry for 2 days. Worked after that. GL.

Just spoke with my friend.

He said he tried the rice method and it helped, but not entirely. He now has issues with the password. Said he must enter the password every time he wants to use the device. For some reason, he is unable to disable password security.

Any suggestions?

On ebay, they're going for about $250 new. Wouldn't be a problem for you or me, but he just lost his job and money is very tight.
