1-3 yesterday making it 2-4 for the week. Today the real games take place:
LSU -2 for 6 units - WIN - Stevens has done a good job this year at Butler, but today everyone sees that this Butler squad isn't close to what they were in prior years. LSU creates some interesting match-up issues. Mitchell and Johnson should handle Matt Howard pretty easily, and Butler lacks a true PG and that will be exposed today.
VCU/UCLA Under 137 for 3 units - WIN - VCU is definitely capable of playing a faster paced game, but they are going to want to run with UCLA. They are going to make sure each possession is valued and try to get the most out of it. UCLA hasn't had the defense they've been known in the past but with about a week to prep for this one, they'll shut them down. Also the Under in 1st and 2nd round games for UCLA under Howland has hit at a crazy rate. They simply lock it down against lesser opponents.
Washington -6 for 3 units - WIN - Miss. St. is going to suffer a similar fate to Georgia last year. Nice run in the conference tourney, but not up to par in the first round. Varnado did a great SEC tourney for Miss. St., but Brockman and Pondexter will handle him and the Huskie guards are definitely better.
Akron +13.5 for 2 units - WIN - Zags get a little scare in the first round from the Zips. Akron plays enough D and will attempt to slow the pace down enough that will make it hard for Gonzaga to ever truly pull away.
Notre Dame -5 for 3 units - LOSS - an overlooked NIT matchup. ND starting to heat up a bit. Playing at home and against a New Mexico club that hasn't been defending the perimeter well equals a pretty easy win here for the Irish.
GL Guys.
