Anthony Kim has withdrawn due to "undisclosed illness". George McNeill takes his place in the field.

From the tour insiders that i talk to, I am guessing this is alcohol related. The kid still hasn't grown up.

Mo Money mo problems..

Caddies to be wired for sound in test

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Phil Mickelson and caddie Jim "Bones" Mackay made for compelling television at Doral when they discussed the risk of Lefty hitting a right-handed shot on No. 12, and the club selection into the 18th green with a one-shot lead.

Now, the PGA Tour is curious if such dialogue is worth broadcasting.

The tour will be working with NBC Sports at the Shell Houston Open to determine if it's worth putting a microphone on some of the caddies. The Houston Open will only be a test for the quality of the audio and whether the conversations are worthy of the telecast. None of the comments will be on TV next week.

"The dialogue between Phil and Bones on the second shot Sunday at Doral is the type of stuff our fans tell us they want to hear more often," said Andy Pazder, senior vice president of tournament administration for the tour.

The concern is not what comes out of a caddie's mouth -- there is a time delay for TV -- but the quality of the sound.

NBC Sports and CBS Sports primarily use a boom mike that a network employees carries on the fairway, but they often can only get to one player at a time.

"Just like anything, we're always striving to improve the qualify of the telecast," Pazder said.

But there could be logistical problems.

Putting a microphone on the caddie only works when the caddie is standing close enough to the player to pick up both sides of the conversation.

One improvement with such a microphone, however, is that television cannot get on the greens with the boom mikes to pick up a discussion of how a putt breaks.

And then there's the willingness of the caddies.

The topic was brought up last week at the tour's annual meeting with the caddies. Some of them are concerned about being limited in what they say -- not during the shot, but the three hours of dead time during a round.

"I know what they're trying to do, and that's good," said Jimmie Johnson, the caddie for Steve Stricker. "I'm not worried about what comes out of the caddie. I'm worried about what goes into the trailer."

His argument, one that several other caddies share, is that having a microphone will pick up everything they say during a four-hour round. None of that stuff will make the telecast, but they have no guarantee that something inappropriate they might say -- about someone in the gallery, another player -- could be leaked.

"Most of us are aware when the big boom mike is around, and it's usually when you're coming down the stretch. You know what you say is being picked up," said Mitch Knox, whose players have included David Duval and Daniel Chopra. "But having a mike could be a problem."

Unfortunately for Anthony, we have alot of temptations here in Dallas for a young guy with some coin....fortunately for Anthony, I understand he is moving to the Arizona desert...unfortunately for Anthony, they might have as many hot blonds as we do, and as I recall , they have have cold beer there as well.

Round 1 plays (1pt):

Bubba Waton to beat J.B. Holmes -110 @ Five Dimes
Bubba Watson to beat Jerry Kelly +105 @ Stan James [tie loses]
Watson was the joint leader in this event with a round to play last year and could be a player to back this week if you overlook his last two starts. Against Holmes that is not a concern as he has missed the cut in his last two starts and has a best finish of 48th in three attempts on this course. Against Kelly it is also not a concern as he is also not the player that he was, missed the cut last time out and while he does have a decent record in this event, that was some years ago; he almost finished in last place last year.

Steve Flesch to beat Jerry Kelly -110 @ Five Dimes
By the same token, Flesch can also beat Kelly this week. His best years at this course are also in the past, but he is coming off a top-10 finish in the Transitions Championship last week.

Fred Couples to beat Padraig Harrington +120 @ Paddy Power
Opposing Harrington once again despite a 20th place finish in the CA Championship; he had struggled in his previous three events. Couples has a good record in this event - top-15 finish in 2004 and 2005 and returned last year to lead after the 1st round (Pod hasn't played since missing the cut in 2000). Add in Couples' top-3 finish last time out and he is worth backing at these odds.

Graeme McDowell to beat Ross Fisher -104 @ Unibet [also available @ Stan James]
I'd rather back a player who finished 2nd on this course last time out and has a great deal more experience on the PGA Tour than someone making his course debut.

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
Outrights:

Adding . . .

Robert Allenby(40/1) e.w.
- - Definitely expecting a run for/from the first page on Sunday.

Charles Howell(50/1) e.w.
- - I'd say better value with prices on Perez, Quigley, J.Singh, Rollins or Curtis, but Arnie has me liking the choices I've made.

Steve Marino(12/1) for Top 10
- - Peanut head.

ODDS and ENDS: About the first thing I read on Monday was that Kenny Perry said he's so fatigued that he would've skipped the tournament but didn't want to disappoint Palmer; since then, it seems like everywhere I look he's been by far the most popular choice for the week . . . Mad respect for Tiger from me this a.m.

Matchups:

Ishikawa(-110) over M.Campbell (Tournament)
Woods(-115) over Harrington/Wilson (Thursday)
Rollins(-120) over McDowell (Tournament)
Allenby(-135) over V.Singh (Tournament)
Howell(+115) over Mahan (Tournament)
Couples(+115) over Lehman (Tournament)

I hope that isn't the case with Perry. Hopefully he shoots a good first round, otherwise, he might just tank it.. and go home early. Lets get it Ryo!

Been trying to get work done and follow this.. but mostly been following golf

Anyway early observations..
Kraft has been solid tee to green.. so has Kenny Perry just has been off with the putter.

Parker and Vijay have been all over the course, pretty abysmal start for them

Mike Campbell looks great early, showing no signs of rust.. we need him to hit some balls into the rough or have some tough lies to test his shoulder.

Parker with 2 water balls thru 5 holes.. maybe it will be a DNF - ROB (Ran out of Balls).. I almost had to do one of those in hs once

Shot 2 169 yds to water, 54 ft to hole
Shot 3 Penalty

Yea Bubba is a clown, although a uga grad..

Brutal finish by Stroud, although he is 5 up on parker, ill take it. If Kraft loses to that boy ill be pissed.

Course is playing brutal, they need to make par 71 or 72

It was a nice up and down for the 9 though.

It was..
Just don't see how he can play 4 competitive rounds.. I just hope Ryo doesnt come out and shoot 80 80.. this kid needs to step up.

This is one of those plays where I can almost guarantee that it will be cashed one way or the other by Friday afternoon ..

I kind of nailed that one :(

Anyway, if its windy tomorrow ryo and his lack of control.. will struggle to beat an injured cambo.
