in a championship flag football game an off player had steps on the defender in EZ, though dropped the TD pass in stride because beaten defender yelled "BOO"....

off player was visably disturbed and screamed it was a lack of sportsmanship((truly i think he was trying to deflect fact he dropped ball and get some coverage for bruised ego)). persoanlly i had no issue with because the player was doing everything within -his power -and rules(i would imagine) --though maybe i'm jus missing an outside viewpoint...

while most all games start of as "for fun" in league i play, obviousy can get carried away with competitveness getting better of some players

now i would imagine its not acpetbale to yell in baseball and certainly not during free throws in baskets, though--i dunno, maybe i'm missing a taunting like rule that is unspoken

curious what the board thinks: please chime in and let know what you think--for or against, thanks in advance

i see no problem with it.

and speaking of bush league....
We were playing in a softball tournament last year, and there was a runner on 1st with one out. The batter popped up to me (2nd base) and the shortstop was telling me to drop it because the batter never left the batter's box. The batter just threw his bat down and took about two steps because he was pissed he had popped up. Well, I dropped it, flipped it to the shortstop standing on 2nd, and he threw it to 1st for a double play. The other team went crazy and told us it was bush?!!? Our response was, "we were taught to run it out in bush."

people use bush league as an excuse when they have no other excuse

"the bunker"
"boo" is bad sportsmanship?...

biting a guy`s ear off is bad sportsmanship...purposefully punching a guy in the nuts is bad sportsmanship...spitting on a guy is bad sportsmanship.....

don`t crowd`s make noise at f`ball games to make it difficult for the opposing team to hear the snap count?...don`t people sitting behind the away basket wave stuff at the shooter to distract a guy shooting a free throw?...

boo?...it might be rude...that`s about it,imo...

"catch the ball" exactly! dont like how a opponent is acting--score and shut him up.

thats what i'm sayin--he already did the hard part in getting open, jus had to catch the ball, and didnt... if he caught it i'm sure he wouldnta had an issue with anybody saying anything...

hinges on the same running up the score deal, where one teams takes exception with an offense still "pouring it on", and has always been my thought--if it truly bothers you--do something about it and stop them--its a full game, play hard til the clock runs out--thtas what i would expect my oppoenents to do.

not trying to be all political ...

not trying to be all political ...

but someone has to win, someone has to lose--You're right, he catches the ball, nothing is said. Thats the problem with a lot of things today, errrrr "socialist thinking." If he had been physically interfered with, then of course its different. But there was nothing keeping him from catching the ball other than his sheer inability to catch a wide open pass.

Ok, maybe just a little political...:violin:

I wouldn't say yelling "Boo!" at someone is bad sportsmanship, it's just stupid. If you're weak enough that some yelling "Boo!" is going to affect your ability to catch the ball, you suck in the first place.

Whenever people do that I just ask them if they're serious, and then tell them they're going to have to try a little harder. It's just tacky, lame AND stupid.

Shaddup, Kosar, you giant maxi pad.

No, usually they don't try to scare me because my athletic skills are more than evident and they know not to bother.

Hope that helps.

GW, I respectfully disagree. Examples of poor sportsmanship are not only acts that are egregious like what you have shown. And yes crowds yell and boo, but crowds at games aren't the "sportsman", they are spectators.

If you are a player in a game and you yell at a guy to break his concentration, you are (IMO) just as weak, if not more so, than the guy who actually lets that yelling interrupt his concentration. This type of behavior also makes you a poor sportsman....at least in my book.

I still see this type of thing when I play pick up ball at the gym. I'll be on a fast break and some clown will come flying up behind me as I'm laying the ball up stomping his feet and yelling like an idiot. I usually just ignore it....but i know he is not a good sportsman.

Here at madjacks we try to encourage friendly and civil discourse within our amazingly polite posting body. Name calling is far from helpful to this cause.

Kosar, you sexy beast of a man.

Is that better?
