TOO bad Cal never did. for all of the lies, spins, and "telling the people what they want to hear". and we in memphis believed him. even I did, during the last two years sadly.

Well, i got a serious dose of reality last sunday night. i happened to be on rivals last sunday night when the rumors hit the web. all of the big schools had recruits for 2010 already. one guess on the lonely team that didn't. MEMPHIS, wonder why.

does anyone remeber Cal taking shots at UK a couple of years ago ? they wouldn't offer him the job.

did the man love memphis ? no, he loved what he could do at memphis.

does anyone wonder why memphis is not in the big east ? Coah Cal kept us out of the conference. he convinced king dipshit (RC) that we didn't need the big east, but we (memphis) would have benefited a lot - would have helped tommy west immensely with football.

what may have not happened was memphis being a perennial 1,2 seed in the tourney because the big east is a bitch of a schedule.

the man chased st. john's,nc state, pitt, and UK. the additional rumblings were all about brokering more cash.

am i bitter, yes. but i do understand a great offer at a storied program, and the "dream job".

however, my dissapointment comes in when the sob was going after every job available. UK didn't offer 2 years ago, and i guess that was good for memphis.

Simeon star Derrick Rose wrapped up his prep career last weekend with a state title and a wave to the crowd. His future seemed settled, he would play in a couple of all-star games this spring and then head off to Memphis.

That could be changing.

Tubby Smith?s resignation at Kentucky could have a significant effect on Rose?s future. Memphis coach John Calipari is considered one of the top candidates for the Kentucky job. Rose signed a National Letter of Intent with Memphis in November. He could ask to be released from his letter of intent if Calipari leaves, but those requests aren?t always granted.

??I feel that if Calipari did leave that the university would show us respect and release Derrick from the letter of intent,?? said Reggie Rose, who is Derrick?s brother.

According to Reggie Rose, Derrick?s recruiting would be re-opened if Calipari left Memphis.

??We would sit down with the new coach and give him a chance,?? Rose said. ??You never know, Derrick might buy into the new coach. He really liked it down there.??

As of Thursday afternoon, the Rose's hadn?t heard anything from Calipari. ??I think if he was considering leaving he would give us a call,?? Rose said.

It?s too early to speculate about which schools would be in the running for Rose if Calipari left Memphis, but Reggie Rose did let something slip. ?

?We may have to get back on the highway and head down to Champaign,?? Rose said.

Reggie Rose didn?t mention it, but it is also possible that Derrick would follow Calipari to Kentucky.

Rose to Illini would be great, that team was good enough for them all

interesting. sounds a lot like this year.

the point : Cal never loved memphis, and i am ok with that. but the sob took 3 days and milked it on espn, and they us for all it was worth. the time spent in memphis on monday was an effort to steer current recruits to UK, and saddle memphis with Cal's bitch tony barbee. it is because he loved memphis.

well, the tricky world of AAU bball is about to be back in memphis real soon witht the services of Scott Drew from baylor. guess who has a number of recruits coming to a baptist school in texas in 2010 ? BAYLOR. i wonder if any of these guys will follow the staff that will leave for memphis.

i could be wrong, but i have a feeling Memphis will be back in the big dance soon, and i can only hope we get a shot a certain school and coach.

someone figured out what Cal did and was doing at Memphis. Recruit like a sob, blow through a weak schedule, get a 1,2 seed in the tourney, (this a free ride to the sweet 16 btw) and then see what can happen.

II know what I am talking about, and I hope that some booster has figured it out as well. typically boosters have a lot more money than me because they are smarter than me and they own their own companies, etc.

if Scott Drew does come to Memphis - I wonder where John Wall will go to school. i bet there are some boosters who are banking on a top 5 five recruiting class coming to Memphis soon.

hey, I can always blame it on the booze if it doesn't work out.;)

leans : mich st +4 and villian nova + 7- 1/2. do the dogs scare a little, yes. but st has depth and they crash the boards. thabeet is easy to pull away from the basket and that only leaves adrian to rebound for uconn(sometimes that is all you need). nova is a dog (pitbull) they do take poor shots at times but they all fight on the boards. the big scare here is if wayne ellington actually shows up for a game. unc is not a good rebounding team w/o physche out T, and he will face a beast in the center for nova.

You should be thankful for what he did for your program. He wasn't paid to love Memphis, he was paid to win games and he did that. As long as these guys are allowed to break free from their "contracts", I don't see why he isn't allowed to chase his dream (if in fact coaching UK is his dream job).

Scott Drew and Cal have a lot in common - if the NCAA actually did real investigations and had any teeth they would both be long gone. He is going to have a lot tougher time with his shenanigans at UK.

sun, you are correct.

I am not so sure of scott drew at this point. all of the conjecture and rumors on the message boards are worthless. i am still holding out hope that we will get a really good hire, but that will be up to a coach that is laready employed and will want to come here.

i have my eyes on a certain big east coach , but i would get laughed off of the forum if i brought up a name.

anyway, gl at texas, i think scott drew will be out of waco soon, but not necessarily in Memphis.

Yes, folks, it was Scott Drew. He was in contract negotiations this morning with Memphis, reportedly into the "final details." But something went wrong between then and now, if Gary Parrish's latest report is correct. The Commercial Appeal just reported it within the hour, too.

:sadwave:

so much for this year's recruits.

Honestly- Drew is as dirty as they come. Setting aside what I think of Cal and Memphis, you REALLY want no part of that guy.
