Im sure the forum views will be down by 150% this week.. kind of like the rv ratings. Anyway, I am really familiar with this event, we have a time share in Sea Pines during the summer and the course is actually 45 minutes from my home in Savannah . Obviously this is a shotmakers course, its very tree lined and the greens are relatively small. I think the weather will be a huge factor with 17 and 18 being on the coast.. and i think it was last year where they had to stop play because of the high winds. There are a couple other events on the pga tour, that are Pete Dye designs and the same players seem to show up on the top of those boards.

DJ Trahan -120 over Dustin Johnson

Dustin has struggled on ball strikers courses like here and at the Honda. His distance is null here.. with trees and dog legs. Both played college golf in the state. DJ has a nice history and is second in GIR's..

$125.00 $100.00 Pending 4/16/09 8:00am PGA Golf 177 Robert Garrigus (Tourn) -125 vs Jeff Quinney (Tourn)

Fading quinney who has been out since the NTO with a back.. Garrigus doesnt seem to fit the type of player who does well here, but well see

Jeff Klauk keeps on popping up on my radar.
Grew up on a Dye course.. also played well at the Honda, which is a course that has had similar leaderboards to the Heritage. Ranks in the top 5 of scrambling, also needs to play well to get into his home event at Sawgrass..

Round 1 plays (1pt):

Robert Allenby to beat Zach Johnson -110 @ Paddy Power and The Greek [available generally]
These two have played in 16 common events over the last year with Johnson finishing ahead of Allenby just three times and shooting a lower first round score than Allenby just three times. The margin of victory was 10 shots after just two rounds last year and there has been little from Johnson recently to suggest this week should be any different.

Jim Furyk to beat Ernie Els +100 @ SkyBet [available generally]
Two players with good records around this course, but Furyk has been the better more recently - he beat Els by 12 shots over two rounds last year - and has been the more consistent of the two in the intervening period. I can't see any Masters hangover affecting Furyk this week and certainly not in the first round.

Scott Verplank to beat Trevor Immelman 125 @ Carib
His two visits in the last five years have resulted in two missed cuts for Immelman and that contrasts sharply with Verplank who is a regular every year and hasn't missed the cut since 1999. As with Furyk, a strong performance last week (4th) should see Verplank carry momentum into this event particularly on such a distinctive course.

Justin Leonard to beat Rory Sabbatini -125 @ Pinnacle [also available @ Five Dimes]
With just one previous appearance in this event - and that was a missed cut by six shots in 2001 - it is a surprise to see Sabbatini playing this week. Leonard hasn't missed a cut here since winning in 2002 and is another who should be well-suited to this type of course.

Jonathan Byrd to beat Daniel Chopra -133 @ Unibet
With top-15 finishes in his last three events, Byrd has a consistency that rarely reaches Chopra - the American has a worst 1st round score of 72 this year; Chopra has shot worse than that score in 6 of 11 starts this year.
