Above the Clouds....
He just won the Derby...what was he pissed about? He walked away from the interview and nobody was happy? I wonder if we'll ever here that story.

he was mad that they keep saying his horse was an unknown and he was the guy that drove 1500 miles to see the race with his horse in a trailer behind him, what an investment 9500 paid for the horse and KY derby winner, cha ching...

I thought he was an asshole when I first heard the interview but I understand now after figuring it out

Most of the pre-race storylines belonged to high-profile trainers like Baffert, who was recently elected to the Hall of Fame and whose colt Pioneerof the Nile was making his debut on dirt after racing on synthetic surfaces out West.

But the cowboy in the dark glasses and big black hat outfoxed Baffert and the likes of Bill Mott (12th with Hold Me Back), Nick Zito (17th with Nowhere to Hide), and D. Wayne Lukas, last with Flying Private.

Woolley, whose victory was worth $1.4 million, was no kinder to sentimental favorites Larry Jones and Tom McCarthy, two home-state trainers whose feel-good stories also dominated the headlines for most of the week.

I kinda got the feeling that he lost $$$ on his own ride tonight too.
I mean, I could see him being chapped about the interview before the race, but after? He should have been all smiles. Something stinks with that one boys.
Don't get me wrong...if he did bet against his own pony and lost...FFFFFFFFFFFk him.

Seriously?! I guarantee that he isn't worried whether he placed a bet on his horse or any other horse. The payo0ut from any triple crown race pales in comparison to what they will make from the horse sowing their oats because they are a derby winner.

Let the guy be mad and a snoot. I think it is a bi-product of the coverage of the sport. You hear from Costas and all these other guys before the race. They talk about whether the horse is calm in its morning trot or all these other things. They have a qualified announcer for the race call, but that guy isn't heard from prior to the race. These guys pay attention to races the week prior to one of the Triple Crown runs and just read notes they get from others for most of their commentary.

Just my opinion, but I think this guy was just annoyed about NBC latching on to one little fact about his horse/ownership and had heard it all week. He finally reached his goal and he has some yahoo rehasing how many miles he drove to the derby? Let him be short and appear to be an ass.

I think you're right on here. I noticed in one interview he said (paraphrasing here), "now maybe they'll have something to talk about other than the drive over here!"

He won one for the little guys......

I think he was pissed because the focus wasn't on the win but on his rags to riches story. He probably has an ego and wants to be considered a top owner/trainer, not the guy that paid shit for his horse and drove it up in a pick up himself.
