That call was B.S. I sure hope the NHL isn't taking a page from the NBA and "scripting" how they want series to go.

Now its 3-3 after 2 periods. Should be a fun 3rd.

(Please note: I'm in Mich. and might be a touch biased) :mj07:

questionable call.....and i knew if the hawks didnt score at least once they'd pay the price in the 2nd period as every fking whistle would go against them

which it did, a few of them highly questionable but the refs needed a few makeup calls to even it up (even though it didnt cost det in period one)

those power plays got det going and of course now its tied.

Was a perfect hit in the "old" NHL

Like Maize said, ya gotta keep your head up

Penalty wasn't warranted. Puck was in Havlat's skates and who knew if he was gonna touch it.

As a puck fan, nowadays you just don't what's going to get called, which frustrates me the most. From period to period, game to game, you never know what's a penalty

This is all thanks to the weasel a.k.a. bettman

tough call.
Martin wasn't, truly, in possession of the puck and there was a bit of evidence that the blow was to the head.
NHL has changed, lately.
Any blows evidencing intent to injure are viewed very harshy.
The rules have changed and I imagine that is what is reflected by these "polls" that suggest that many people believe that the hit was legitamite.
The fact that no referee called the play, immeditately, is irrelevant.
That is the way they are calling things now...Cherry be damned.
Good in some ways, but it sure changes the way that hockey was when I first started viewing it, some 35 years ago.
Hope Havlat is okay.
Tough call, either way.
Perhaps, as mentioned, the NHL is going the way of the NBA, where calls become the discretion of those wearing the stripes.
That's still what I can't make sense of in the NBA--I've been trying to figure this shit out, but the foul calls seem to introduce a greater ambiguity.
Hendrix bless the home-court advantage...the NBA clearly applies the greatest Machine Gun.

Clean hit in the old NHL. Cardinal rule of a hockey player don't get caught with your head down in your skates. He paid the price but that is what purists probably like about the game. New NHL heading in a different direction...it's sad.

The only part I took issue with was that he gave him a forearm or fist to the jaw. Can't blame the guy for finishing a hit though, 2 minute penalty would have been sufficient.

brutal call, TSN showed the play from above view and you could see none of the refs had their hands up signaling a call. Puck was in his feet and head down looked pretty clean to me.
