Still trying to figure this out

I'm looking to bet the following drivers:

JEFF GORDON +850
MARK MARTIN +1100
JIMMIE JOHNSON +450
KEVIN HARVICK +3800

I'm not up-to-date with a lot of what's going on in the sport so any info, no matter how trivial it may be, would be greatly appreciated.

Hamlin looks like he owns this track. Should he be a must play? I also see Tony Stewart as a strong play. Can Kenseth and Newman pull it off? There are quite a few drivers that looks like they have a realistic chance of winning this. Who is a must play for this race?

thanks in advance.

I would not play Harvick if he was 3000-1 right now. His team is lost and his car is subpar.

The rest look good and yes if Hamlin can't get a win here then he is going to have trouble winning anywhere else.

I got Hamlin early at 9-1 for 60.
He will practice well and go down at this place.
I expect him to be 5-1 raceday.

Much appreciated kegray. The info on Harvick is exactly the kind thing I needed to know. I think I'm going with this card replacing Harvick for Hamlin. Thank you!

I think that is a great card Ax! Johnson is ready to turn his season on and Martin has already. Gordon has run well here in the past but last win I remember for him here was for rain out. Hamlin, well what can I say he is almost a must play with his track record here. GL to you man!!!:toast:

Sorry.
I am in so deep that you can just say a number and I know who it is.

#11 would be Hamlin of course.

A sidenote:

#14 Tony Stewart crashed in practice and will now go to a backup car and of course to the back of the field.
Really hurts chances of winning. He was going to be a serious contender in "A" car.

That will put #48 Johnson on the pole. They will just move the row Tony was in (inside lane) forward.

Stewart did run well in backup, but I can't play him to win in it.

Sleepers for H2H plays:
Montoya, Mears, Allmendinger, Bowyer

Johnson and Newman were fast but Hamlin clearly looks the front runner right now.

I think they put this dbl file restart in on the best weekend. How else do you get people to sit down and watch the Poc-a-hoe race??? This could really have an effect on the race if we get that last 20 lap or less yellow flap. (Ax that's when there is a wreak or something and the cars slow down):mj07: Just messing with you Buddy, I'm glad your getting the bug. Happened to me about 8-9 years ago. By 2004 I was driving a Jr. Edition Monte. Just love the sport, but it has changed alot even from when I started watching.:burnout

LOL, you're not far off gunny, I really don't know the rules like if there's a crash in the las lap...the race ends with whoever is 1st?...that would suck eh?

Not the rule.
They have 1 attempt at a finish of a green flag lap, white flag finish.
If there is a yellow during that then the race is over.

Wait a minute kegray. If it is the last lap and the leader has taken the white flag and there is a crash and the yellow comes out then the race is over. If the crash is the second to last lap or before then they go into "overtime".( 1 attempt of green flag lap, white flag lap the checkered flag) Confused yet Ax???:mj07:

True if white flag is already been taken then race is over and they go to the last scoring loop.
That should really have Ax asking questions.
What the hell is a scoring loop?

Let me put it to you this way. Remember the great Daytona finish where Harvick beat Martin. It didn't matter because caution was out and they went back to the scoring loop and not the close finish anyway.

OK fellas, I did some digging and found some cool stuff enough to confuse me a bit more. There's actually a bunch of flags...too funny.

back to the finish under caution. I found this in a NY Times article:

If a yellow caution flag comes out in the final laps, Nascar will add two laps to the end of the caution period required to clear the track, regardless of whether that adds to the length of the race. Once the track is cleared, drivers will be given the green flag to race the final two laps.

If another wreck occurs during the two-lap sprint to the finish, Nascar will allow the race to end under caution.

That I think I understand. Also found out they first used this rule in my neck of the woods in NH. I'm starting to really like this sport. Thanks for all your help guys!

I didn't realize I had made some wagers earlier in the week so I have 6 guys to win, more than I'd like...

To Win:

Johnson (+450)
Hamlin (+600)
Martin (+1500)
Kahne (+1500)
Kurt Busch (+1300)
Kyle Busch (+950)

Matchups:

Burton over Bowyer (+100)
Harvick over Ragan (+100)
