I JUST READ SOME STATS THAT MADE MY TOES CURL. FROM ANOTHER CAPPER.

Believe it or not, the Magic have covered an unbelievable 27 games in a row after losing a road game in which Dwight Howard scored at least 12 points and grabbed at least 12 rebounds? It's a fact. It happened seven times during this past regular season and it happened twice more in the Boston series (Games 3 & 6).

Here are the games from this season:

On October 31st, Howard scored 14 points and had 14 rebounds in an 86-84 loss in Memphis. The following night, Orlando, laying 11, beat Sacramento, 121-103.

On December 1st, Howard scored 14 points and had 15 rebounds in a 107-88 loss in Boston. Two nights later, Orlando, laying 9.5, beat Minnesota, 100-89.

On December 29th, Howard scored 18 points and had 18 rebounds in an 88-82 loss in Detroit. Two days later, Orlando, laying 6, beat Chicago, 113-94.

On February 6th, Howard scored 21 points and had 20 rebounds in a 107-102 loss in Indiana. Two nights later, Orlando, laying 13, beat New Jersey, 101-84.

On February 24th, Howard scored 26 points and had 12 rebounds in a 120-102 loss in Chicago. The following night, Orlando, laying 2.5, beat New York, 114-109.

On March 9th, Howard scored 27 points and had 14 rebounds in a 98-94 loss in Detroit. Two nights later, Orlando, laying 8, beat Chicago, 107-79.

On March 17th, Howard scored 13 points and had 15 rebounds in a 97-93 loss in Cleveland. The following night, Orlando, laying 6, beat Milwaukee, 106-80.

On May 6th, Howard scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds in the 112-94 Game 2 loss in Boston. Two nights later, Orlando, laying 4.5, beat Boston, 117-96.

On May 12th, Howard scored 12 points and had 17 rebounds in the 92-88 Game 5 loss in Boston. Two nights later, Orlando, laying 7, beat Boston, 83-75.

Howard scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds in the Game 1 loss to the Lakers

read a heavily negative stat this morning about the Lakers that I had trouble believing at first. So I went back over their entire season to confirm what I'd read. The results are incredible. Since November 25th, the Lakers have played 13 home games in which they outshot their opponent by at least 10%, including their 100-75 win over the Magic in Game 1 (46.1% to 29.9%). Here's what the Lakers did in their very next game following such a strong offensive and defensive performance at home:

November 25th - The Lakers outshot the Nets 50.6% to 34.5% in a 120-93 win. In their next game, the Lakers beat Dallas, 114-107 as 11-point favorites. DIDN'T COVER

November 30th - The Lakers outshot the Raptors 51.1% to 38.6% in a 112-99 win. In their next game, the Lakers lost as 9.5-point favorites in Indiana, 118-117. DIDN'T WIN & DIDN'T COVER

December 7th - The Lakers outshot the Bucks 48.6% to 38.0% in a 105-92 win. In their next game, the Lakers lost as 12.5-point favorites in Sacramento, 113-101. DIDN'T WIN & DIDN'T COVER

January 4th - The Lakers outshot the Blazers 49.3% to 39.0% in a 100-86 win. In their next game, the Lakers lost as 7-point home favorites to New Orleans, 116-105. DIDN'T WIN & DIDN'T COVER

January 19th - The Lakers outshot the Cavaliers 52.5% to 42.5% in a 105-88 win. In their next game, they beat the Clippers 108-97 as 16-point favorites. DIDN'T COVER

February 26th - The Lakers outshot the Suns 57.4% to 42.9% in a 132-106 win. In their next game, the Lakers lost as 2.5-point favorites in Denver, 90-79. DIDN'T WIN & DIDN'T COVER

March 6th - The Lakers outshot the T-Wolves 48.8% to 33.0% in a 110-90 win. In their next game, the Lakers lost as 3-point favorites in Portland, 111-94. DIDN'T WIN & DIDN'T COVER

March 15th - The Lakers outshot the Mavericks 52.5% to 39.8% in a 107-100 win. In their next game, the Lakers lost as 9.5-point home favorites to Philadelphia, 94-93. DIDN'T WIN & DIDN'T COVER

April 19th - In Game 1, the Lakers outshot the Jazz 55.6% to 39.1% in a 113-100 win. In Game 2, the Lakers beat the Jazz as 11.5-point favorites, 119-109. DIDN'T COVER

April 21st - In Game 2, the Lakers outshot the Jazz 60.0% to 49.4% in a 119-109 win. In Game 3, the Lakers lost as 2.5-point road favorites, 88-86. DIDN'T WIN & DIDN'T COVER

May 12th - In Game 5, the Lakers outshot the Rockets 51.2% to 32.6% in a 118-78 win. In Game 6, the Lakers lost as 9-point road favorites, 95-80. DIDN'T WIN & DIDN'T COVER

May 17th - In Game 7, the Lakers outshot the Rockets 46.8% to 36.8% in a 89-70 win. In their next game, Game 1 against Denver, the Lakers beat the Nuggets as 6.5-point favorites, 105-103. DIDN'T COVER

Freaking WOW. How about that, the mighty Los Angeles Lakers, an unbelievably pathetic 0-12 ATS along with EIGHT straight up losses in this situation since November 25th. On average, they weren't even close to the pointspread, missing the cover by an average of 11.7 points per game.

So tonight, Laker backers are asking their heroes to cover a 6.5-point spread in a situation in which the Fakers have failed MISERABLY for the last five and a half months.

You are trying to compare regular season games with the second game of the NBA finals in which they are up 1-0.They know if they take care of business tonight this could be the last home game of a championship season, and they will try to put on a show worthy of taking command of a championship series against a worthy opponent. You write like a Laker hater,a fatal flaw for a handicapper. How can a regular season trend be used in the NBA championships as a valid comparison? The Celtics were a bet against after any ATS win, they were the defending NBA champs and a public team.

Regular season stats and trends are not relevant during the post season and certainly not during the NBA Finals.

Thanks for gathering the info: No one should should crazy either betting the Lakers win by 25 again tonight or that Orlando bounces bank with ease as they have before to cover the 6's or 7s out there.

I think that it will be a much closer game (hard to be a bigger blowout!) but that the Lakers really do "take care of business" and cover the first Q, FH and game. I also like over 201'.
