I have to disagree on Georgia this year. I see them losing 4 games and alot of turmoil trying to replace the players that left. Caleb King has yet to prove he is the real deal.

They are going to have QB controversy by the second game.

If they get by Oks St on the road with Joe Cox, they will be playing Old Ball Coachs South Carolina defense at home at night. :scared

Guess we will agree to disagree. I put much more stock into the interior play verses skill. Star skill and no interior on O and D gets you what we had last year which was the two stars "making" things happen, and the defense having to play a lot more man. The improvements, experience, and return from injuries up front on both sides in my opinion will overcome the loses. If you would like a friendy wager of say $100 though I will gladly say they will not lose 4 games. Let me know.

Its just speculation on my part. Got to watch the first few games before I will have a good feel for them and their season.

From what I see though, they could be in trouble.

I just read in the AJC that the Georgia Bulldogs made 67 million dollars last year. Texas first in money, then Ga, then Florida.

I wonder who really gets all of that cash besides Richt

They dont say what the profit is after overhead.

Dogs beat Gators in 2008 football revenue
By CHIP TOWERS

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Georgia couldn?t beat Florida on the football field last fall ,but the Bulldogs beat it at the bank.

Likely bolstered by their preseason No. 1 ranking, the Bulldogs generated the second-most revenue in college football last year ? $67.05 million ? according to figures reported by Street & Smith?s Sports Business Journal on Monday. That was second only to the University of Texas ($72.95 million) and one spot ahead of the national champion Florida Gators ($66.1 million).

Ohio State ($65.16 million) and Notre Dame ($59.77) round out the top five, according to SBJ.

Georgia?s football revenues increased 12.7 percent in 2008, SBJ reported. The Bulldogs finished ranked No. 2 in 2007.

?I think there?s definitely something to that [increasing revenues],? said Alan Thomas, UGA?s senior associate AD for marketing and promotion. ?The continuation of excitement from the end of [2007] to last year and the premium on tickets was kind off a perfect storm for us.?

The Bulldogs? overall athletic program, with $84.02 million in revenue, ranked only 13th in the nation. That was well behind the top three of Texas ($120 million), Ohio State ($117 million) and Florida ($106 million). UGA was also ranked behind SEC rivals Auburn (7th, $89.31 million), Alabama (8th, $88.87 million), Tennessee (9th, $88.72 million) and LSU (12th, $84.18 million) in overall revenue.

?That surprised me,? Thomas said of the relative low ranking. ?But I don?t know how they count it or what their criteria is. We feel like we?re doing well.?

it sounds kinda fishy to me

Rich get richer: UGA signs big media rights deal
4:00 pm June 17, 2009, by Bill King

UGA announced today that it has finalized an eight-year media rights deal with ISP Sports valued at $92.8 million. The deal gives ISP the rights to the Dogs? radio broadcasts and the coaches? TV shows, among other properties. WSB Radio and ISP also reached agreement for WSB to remain the Dogs? flagship station for the duration of the contract. The Athens Banner-Herald reports the deal is the biggest ever in annual payments for a school?s media rights, topping Ohio State?s deal with IMG College.:scared

Meanwhile, Charlie McAlexander, who handled South Carolina?s play-by-play 1995-2003 and has also worked for Middle Tennessee State, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss, is joining UGA?s Grady College as an assistant to the journalism school?s dean, the Banner-Herald reports. He?ll develop a sports journalism emphasis working with Toccoa-based WNEG, the UGA-owned commercial TV station.

At this point, there?s been no discussion of ?Charlie Mac,? as he?s known, joining Georgia?s radio broadcast team of Scott

Tyrik Rollison joins crowded Auburn quarterback race
Posted by Mike Herndon,

An already crowded Auburn quarterback competition added one more contestant this week, as touted freshman Tyrik Rollison arrived on the Plains after being cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse to join the Tigers.

Rollison said he arrived in Auburn on Saturday after the Clearinghouse cleared his ACT score, just in time to go through the players' freshman orientation sessions on Tuesday.

"We're going through a whole bunch of stuff right now with Camp War Eagle," Rollison said Tuesday. "Everything's going good."

Rollison, the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the country last year according to Rivals.com, joins a long list of signal-callers on the Tigers' roster, including Kodi Burns, Neil Caudle, Chris Todd, Barrett Trotter and fellow incoming freshmen Clint Moseley and Robert Cooper. Rollison is rooming with Moseley, the former Leroy High quarterback who was named the state's Mr. Football in 2008.

Auburn coach Gene Chizik has said the quarterback race is still wide-open and he expects the freshmen to compete for the job.

"The position has not been won -- that's the main point of emphasis," Chizik said last month at the Mobile County and Baldwin County Auburn Clubs' annual scholarship dinner in Robertsdale. "We've got some young guys who will come in and challenge for the job. Certainly the ones who have been on campus (in the spring) have an advantage of 15 days anyway, but the quarterback situation probably won't be solved until right before the season starts."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Rollison, a PARADE All-American, led his Sulphur Springs (Texas) squad to the Texas Class 4A Div. II state title last year. He threw for 4,728 yards and 51 touchdowns and rushed for 1,094 yards and 12 more scores while running a spread offense similar to that being installed at Auburn by new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.

"We were wide-open and fast-paced just like this offense down here," Rollison said. "Once I get the offense down, it should be easy to adjust to."

Could help Auburn. They are the sleeper no one is talking about...
