Hope all you fathers out there have a happy fathers day. Many of you are fathers yourselves.Congratualtions and hopefully many can join your families in celebration today. Many of us have lost our fathers so today is a day we can remember and honor them.
All my life I wanted to please my father.I wanted to be a role model like him and live up to his expectations."be kind and respectful" to people.I put those two principals above the rest.He passed away almost 10 years ago and now he has my mom with him....see the two of them walking around clouds up in heaven...with a lot of blond angels...damn catholic baltimore catheicsm book....

favorite dad story..
It is June 5th,1944...Gen. Mark Clark 5th Army is about to enter Rome as the germans pulled out the night before. My father is an officer in the AMG..allied military goverment...and is in the 11th jeep behind Clark...Clark has set up a media type entry a la hollywood into rome...Italians in the street are throwing flowers, and cheering. Clark has to get to Victor Emanuel square where Mussilini gave his speeches...the world is watching...but the lead jeep makes a wrong turn and the whole motorcade goes the wrong way.But my father and his buddies knew the right way..they try to radio but its useless...they went about 5 or 6 blocks going in the wrong direction until they stopped and asked some kid or guy on a motorcycle how do you get to the square....
I always loved that story..its actually recorded in some books about Clark getting lost..anyway I always loved my father telling me that story..and the irony of it was..Clark made headlines all over the world capturing rome...but about 10 hours later on a Normandy beach something called d-day happened..studs turkel the writer once wrote..clark made the headlines for one day and the back pages forever...
Again happy fathers day to everyone..maybe someone else might have a story...hopefull not as long and boring...happy fathers day to all of you, and to all those of us thay have lost our fathers
