there are a couple sites (that i know of) that allow you to play for free--but both are named under something else due to copyright er something like that

both are free--and conquer club has a ton of interesting maps (a poker club map, pac man, NYC map, canada etc etc, lil bit for everyone though with same basic goal of crushing your opponents)
