I'm not a guy but I got my walking papers back at the end of May. I was fortunate enough to find something quickly and was back at work by July 6. I'm still waiting for that 1st check... will be much nicer when they start rolling along again.

on & off work here since last Labor Day weekend...gl, it sucks.
I filed on my way home the day I got laid off. I have some irons in the fire so I'm not real worried about it yet.
I wish I'd held on a bit longer on unemployment. I got nervous and took the first job offered. Now, I'm not so sure that it's what I want to do and I f'ed up the unemployment by taking it. 
I am still looking! Bene since January 31st! Benefits are extended, I will run out in 3 weeks, and believe I get a min. of 33 more weeks. I hope to get something by then. Just got news that the state of MN is picking up the other 35% COBRA payments that I need to pay since Obama's COBRA plan went into effect. Basically my full coverage is now at no cost to me!

COBRA coverage here in Alabama is going to cost me $304 per month for family. I think the weekly unemployment check is $255.
I have some savings stashed back and some high end toys I can part ways with. Also have some rental property. Who knows I might find out I did not need a job that bad anyway. We will see.
