Patriots LB Bruschi retiring after 13 seasons
By HOWARD ULMAN (AP) ? 17 minutes ago

BOSTON ? Tedy Bruschi is retiring after a 13-year career marked by an inspiring return to the New England Patriots as a starting linebacker eight months after a stroke.

A person familiar with his decision tells The Associated Press that the 36-year-old Bruschi will announce his retirement at a news conference Monday morning. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made. The team declined comment Sunday night.

Bruschi played on all three Super Bowl-winning Patriots teams. The last championship game was on Feb. 6, 2005, against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ten days later he was hospitalized after experiencing numbness in his left arm and left leg and blurry vision and was diagnosed with a mild stroke.

do you think he is H.O.F. worthy? I know he doesn't have tons of pro bowls, but still...The only locks in my opinion are brady, vinateri and belichick...moss and seau were already in before they came...

Good question. I would put him in but I admit it is very borderline. They really have not had a great running back. Built kind of like the old Celtics bunch of role players who bought into the system. Winning says a lot.

truthfully,i`d bet it doesn`t really matter with a guy like bruschi regarding personal accoldes....3 championships and being an integral part of a championship no-name defense...

my guess is he`s similar off the field to the guy he was on on it...nuts and bolts,no frills and hard nosed...not seeking individual attention...

gotta have respect for guys like bruschi..

good health and g.l. to him...
