Seriously you have to think Chicago was in the lead or contention or the O family and Opra wouldn't have made the trip.

--so can only surmise the speaches by O and mrs O turned them off.

Maybe they were tired of Gumby's I/me rhetoric however I believe Michelle's speach may have been the clincher especially this line--

"Some of my best memories are sitting on my dad's lap, cheering on Olga and Nadia, Carl Lewis, and others for their brilliance and perfection. Like so many young people, I was inspired. I found myself dreaming that maybe, just maybe, if I worked hard enough, I, too, could achieve something great."

Now following this the judges only had a few options to consider.

A: does she think we are stupid and naive as liberals in US.
B: She's a serial liar
C: She is heartless to intentional inflict pain on her father.

--a couple facts to explain.

She was 20 when Carl Lewis was in olympics and her father had multiple sclerosis--ouch!

--we have two peas in a pod

Obama at Salem speech--

?There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born. So don?t tell me I don?t have a claim on Selma, Alabama. Don?t tell me I?m not coming home to Selma, Alabama"

it shows that obama fatigue isn`t just an american phenomenon...

you risk the backlash of ridicule and cynism for everything you do, the good and the bad....not every issue needs an "obama solution"....

somebody needs to tell his advisors/handlers that.....

and based on the polls that i saw, about half of chicago wanted the bid to fail....

Another new low Wayne. Not satisfing enough to mock the president everday? You need to stoop to attacking the president's wife? I guess the children are next? Traditional, partisan-driven efforts to land a punch on the president AND HIS WIFE!

I see you are still a sheep of the Drudge Report. The Zugby Poll has 82% Americans wanting the Olympics. Yet Rebs were cheering America's loss. The new Fox Party spent 40% of their air time cheering America's loss (45% on ACORN). And Drudge, nevermind, you already have it memorized. Still 100% on attacking every move of the President, you have that going for you.

Are you following Ensign's resignation watch? Coburn? Looks like 1/2 less Reb senators before 2010 election.

Look people the rest of the world hates us. They can't take pot shots at us in the "real world" because we'll storm them with tanks and troops or put sanctions on them. This is one of the few ways the rest of the world can band up and give a collective fuck you to the united states without repercussions.

The way Obama handled it is just a small example of why they hate Americans. He flies across the atlantic and waltzes in to interrupt the process with his 'stardom' and 30 minutes later he's back on a plane to the US.

If you want to blame someone blame the USOC.

He was going to lose no matter what he did.

It seems he was told that they were not going to win the bid so he went over in a final push to try and get the bid.

In my opinion it was going to be Rio no matter what the usa did. We just had the olympics in atlanta in 96 and south america had yet to have one.

All the other leaders from their respected countries were over there trying to secure their bids for their own countries I am still not sure what obama did wrong.

I am suprised from the applause and giddyness from the right over this.

Its not a loss for Obama its a loss for the USA.

I guess its alright to root against your country when the other party is in control.

White House: Opposing Obama's Olympics Lobbying Is Unpatriotic or Something

Earlier this week, House Republican Leader John Boehner criticized Obama's Olympics lobbying jaunt to Copenhagen. "Listen I think it's a great idea to promote Chicago but he's the president of the United States, not the mayor of Chicago," Boehner said. "And the problems we have here at home affect all Americans and that's where his attention ought to be." RNC Chairman Michael Steele also said he wanted the Olympics to come to Chicago, but thought that "at a time of war, at a time of recession ... this trip, while nice, is not necessary for the president." Maybe, just maybe, it would have made more sense to focus on winning the war in Afghanistan than winning the Olympics for Chicago.

On Tuesday, the White House struck back. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs falsely implied that Steele opposed bringing the Olympics to Chicago:

"Who's he rooting for? (Laughter) Is he hoping to hop a plane to Brazil and catch the Olympics in Rio? (Laughter.) Maybe it's Madrid."
The official White House blog also claimed that "In the past, hosting the Olympics has been a source of pride and unity for the country." Actually, that's not always been true: In 1972 60 percent of Coloradans voted against hosting the 1976 Olympics. But the facts weren't really important. The point was that White House wanted you to know that if you opposed bringing the Olympics to Chicago--or even criticized Obama's trip to Copenhagen--you didn't really have "pride" in your country (unlike Michelle Obama, who might have been proud of her country for the second time in her adult life had Chicago won).
I was rooting for Rio. The United States has hosted the Olympics eight times before. Not a single South American country has ever hosted the games. Isn't it only fair for Brazil to get its day in the sun? And after declaring that "no world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed," wasn't it hypocritical for the most powerful man in the world to jet to Copenhagen to demand his country get the Olympics for the 9th time?
Wouldn't it have been smart diplomacy for Obama to have opted not to throw his weight around? Or does "smart diplomacy" only involve sacrificing our interests and the the interests of our democratic allies to appease our autocratic adversaries?
Furthermore, 45 percent of Chicagoans oppose bringing the Olympics to Chicago (47 percent were in favor). Presumably opponents have reasons other than a deep-seated hatred of America for wanting to see the city fail in its bid? Or does the White House think Chicagoans who don't want the games are unpatriotic, too? It seems that, like Obamacare, the more people learned what hosting the Olympics really means -- higher taxes, heavy traffic, more corruption -- the less support there was. So, I was wrong to write this morning that Chicago lost. It didn't lose. Neither did America. Obama's cowboy diplomacy lost. And I cheered.

Still waiting on bajo tapes to implicate Gumby and Emanual--throw in Rezco / Wright Ayres and the rest and you might have a clue why I'm not enthused to have the armpit of corruption represent the U.S. in olympics

Obama was not the only world leader there. Three of the four countries had their leader there. C'mon.

More bullshit.

Most cities are almost always split about bringing the olympics in before hand.

And I will say it again this is not about Obama losing as much as you guys have a hard on for it to be true.

This is about the usa losing and not getting the bid simple as that.

You can spin it all you want but thats the way it is.

It is also unamerican to be happy that our country lost in its olympic bid.

For a party that likes to throw around the unpatriotic tag every time someone disagreed with the last prez, they are showing their true colors.

They would much rather have our country suffer if it they can somehow spin it to where they can use it for political gain.

This thread is also a perfect example of you guys spinning shit.

First it was wrong of obama to go over there at all.

Now he didnt spend enough time over there.

Obama did what he had to do because the Olympics are an economic boon to the host city. But can anyone seriously argue that Rio de Janeiro (the first South American venue in Olympic history) was always the odds-on favorite to be awarded the 2016 games?

This thread has to be the highlight in pure attempts to blame Obama for anything possible. First, he's blamed for spending our money to go there. It's his home town, for crissakes, and he's a famous person from the city, currently the most famous, I would say. Then, he's ridiculed for speaking on behalf of Chicago and our country in trying to get the Olympics when some people don't want them here. Then, he's ridiculed for only spending a little time there, when others have spent more time there.

Why would you assume that Chicago was a frontrunner? I don't remember seeing anything specific about any of the sights being measured as a frontrunner, other than maybe Rio. You say that, because it's easier to rip Obama when they didn't get it. And then, it's Obama's fault because he somehow lost it for Chicago, by speaking on behalf of it. Again, Obama's fault. Which it would have been had he not gone there, or talked a little longer, or a little less long, or whatever you can make up to blame him for.

This has become so sad, so fast. I can't remember how many times those of us who did not like Bush were called out IN 8 YEARS for disagreeing with his actions. Those same people have been ripping Obama non-stop since before he was even elected, and now THIS is what you guys are blaming him for? There isn't even any agreement about what the guy did wrong, or didn't do, or whatever. It's just because he's Obama, and your personal dislike of him for whatever motivation spawns hate and disgust.

This is a new low. But, hey, it's easier than facing reality, I guess.

And yes, lowell, I can see some similarities in what you are claiming. If that makes you feel better. People banding together to support something or someone who will do more to help them or their country. What a crazy thing to do, huh?

if you saw the faces of some the msm t.v.anchors,you realize that progressives thought that all "the one" had to do to lock up the bid was throw his jock strap in the ring....

it`s a huge fricking loss for the potus(and OUR country) both domestically and internationally.....obama put his political capital on getting the olympics for his beloved political cronies in chicago when he decided to go to copenhagen....

it was supposed to be a tight race between chicago and rio....well,it wasn`t..chicago finished last...

obviously, the administration can`t count and wasted political capital on a complete lose/lose situation (which will not make the blue dog democrats feel confident to lay their political futures on the line for this administration since the ability to count seems to be lacking in the w.h.)....

the 2010 election is coming fast...their poll numbers continue to decline....now this disaster in which the pres.deluded himself into thinking he could sway the i.o.c. delegates with his lofty rhetoric (and btw, that delusion merely reinforces french president sarkozy's scathing comments on "the one`s" naivete) and will cause our allies serious concern regarding negotiations with iran and n. korea(which just happen to be an ongoing circle jerk)....

of course with this administration, who the hell knows who our allies are anymore?.....we`ve stabbed many of our freedom loving allies in the back and seem to be embtracing despots and socialists...

president obama..take weasel`s advice...you can`t be on t.v. more than the sham-wow guy(before he got dummied by the prostitue..lol)and expect your schtick to not wear a bit thin.....

i`m trying to be helpful here....
