I have vista at office and cable wireless connection--

When I tried to type something here this morning it would kick me off line every time I tried to type--also kicks me offline when I go to NYT or a certain sportsbook. Anyone know how to cure this. I never have need to work off line if that will help.
Thanks

Are you using a laptop or a desktop?

I get two boxes one telling me I am working off line the next trying to connect to a modem (whichI don't have) I get rid of these two boxes then get connect box which puts me back on line except for this site which it will contiuely log off on.

First thing I would do is

Open Internet Explorer
Go to Tools
Internet Options
The Connections Tab
and select - never dial a connection

I'd also double check the Lan Settings to make sure that it is set to automatically detect settings

The real baffling issue here is that you get kicked when you start typing - I would double check the keys on your keyboard to make sure that none of them are stuck

good luck

It could be a number of problems.

One of which is a router issue.....

Another is an advanced connections issue....

Among others.

Can you try to do a direct connect instead of going through a router?

That would be the first thing I would do if JOSHNAUDI'S solution doesn't work.

Same thing happens to me and I'm on Vista and cable. Seems to happen less frequently when I clear my cookies on a regular basis. The guy who installed my router told me that when this new Windows operating system (7, I think) comes out, to get it and get rid of Vista. Not many people like it (Vista), especailly the tech savvy crowd. He had a chance to run Windows 7 last summer and said it is a much better system than Vista.

I had thoughtof that IE--but hard to teach old dogs new tricks--I hate to start to try and get familiar with new system.

As you can see I am having no prob right now on system--its just a day to day thing--some times fine--sometimes impossible.
Appreciate the heads up though-thanks
