although sitting at my desk gazing across the waters of the inner banks can take one far from thoughts of the gridiron, the lure of seeing old friends still sharing football fellowship at jack's place has proven irresistible. accordingly, i offer the following pigskin prognostications:

texas a&m +4- and +175 ml: a little surprised to see the majority of bettors on the cowboys although intrigued that the line is backing up. i'm feeling state just getting a little too much credit while taking their first road outing of the year to a venue where they've only won once in my lifetime (and i'm no fresh daisy to say the least). cowboys have one quality win this year against georgia, but caught the bulldogs traveling halfway across the country in their opener, and benefited from three georgia turnovers against no miscues of their own. our line is further fluffed by virtue of the aggies being drubbed last week in college station by arkansas. a closer look at that game reveals that a&m actually outgained and out-firstdowned the razorbacks but were done in by a few bombs and an 85-yard fumble return.

aggies also packing revenge for a pasting in stillwater last year, and cowboys still distracted from the dez bryant drama and kendall hunter's injury. stir in the huge aggie homefield edge with the 12th man reverberating across kyle field and we're hopefully gazing at an upset.

thanks guys, great to hear from all of you. here's another local flavor play for me:

smu +6-: skip holtz has done good things up the road in greenville but, let's face it, the pirates suck as a road favorite. not sure anyone should be layin' a td on the road whose offense dwells near the cellar. qb patrick pinkney is about a ninth year senior and appears to be having his worst year. also not helping the pirates that leading rusher brandon jackson didn't make the trip because of the flu. pirates field a pretty good defense but will be missing a db and lb today against june jones' wide open offense. wouldn't be surprised to see the outright upset here also.
