That isnt a very smart way to bet. If you are so worried about losing that you have to hedge $40 bets maybe you shouldnt bet.

Of the 1,666 NFL contests since the 2004-?05 season, 263 games, or 15.7 percent, fell on a 3-point difference. This was followed by 151 games at 7 points (9 percent) and 109 games with a 10-point gap (6.5 percent). Last week, five of the 16 NFL games (31 percent) fell on one of these three key numbers. THIS is a cut and paste from Covers.com dated Sept 29th, 2009.

The teasers are results of other outcomes so I will not consider them in my discussion.

HOWEVER................................

IF you decide to risk 4X on the Dolphins and want plus three and half, the purchase of the half point added to the key number is worth it about 7% of the time. Playing the Jets -2 for 1X gives you a shot to middle the favorite winning by exactly 3 while killing the juice on your buy if the Jets win by 4 or more. (202-50=152/150 @ + 3.5) I like that angle and use it frequently. Of course the down side when Miami wins out right you have increased your juice dramatically on them as you risked 269 to win 150 on an underdog. The key is having a strong sense of when to use this angle and when not to.

Saturday Ohio St -12 and Wiscy + 19 worked pretty well. So did Pittsburgh ML & Uconn +10.5. And for the hat trick I had WF-9 & Maryland + 13.5. Takes at least two books and the time to check the lines daily with a strategy.

OH and I miss some too, did not get LSU +11, and not enough conviction to play plus 10 and buy, so I did not play FLorida either, but that is another one I was eyeing that worked and I did not grab.

Not for everyone, but I like to grind, and have my down weeks also. Money management is a factor with this angle also.
