Packers Team Report

Yahoo! Sports - 11 hours, 34 minutes ago
The Packers enter a critical week on their schedule hurting at one of their deepest positions.
A week after Jordy Nelson was lost indefinitely to a knee injury, fellow receiver Brett Swain suffered what was confirmed Monday by head coach Mike McCarthy as a season-ending knee sprain.
Swain suffered the injury covering a kickoff in the Packers' 31-3 road win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
"Very unfortunate for Brett and his injury yesterday in Cleveland," said McCarthy, who added that Swain would undergo surgery.
Swain, a first-year player, had been a top contributor on special teams and also was used in a situational role on offense.
With McCarthy saying that Nelson will be sidelined for at least a couple more weeks, the Packers are down to three healthy wideouts: starters Greg Jennings and Donald Driver, along with James Jones.
They also lost another weapon in the passing game Sunday, when tight end Jermichael Finley suffered a knee sprain in Green Bay's opening series.
"He'll be a long shot to go this week," McCarthy said.
Being short-handed at receiver doesn't bode well for the Packers (4-2), who have won two straight games and are staring at a rematch against the NFC North-leading Minnesota Vikings (6-1) on Sunday in Green Bay.
McCarthy said the team would have to add at least another receiver this week.
"That's what we're working through right now," McCarthy said. "The personnel department is looking at their options, and we'll probably make a decision here in the next 24 hours."
Promoting Jake Allen, a first-year player, from the practice squad is under consideration.

Berrian, Henderson, Winfield hurting for Vikings

Berrian, Henderson, Winfield hurting for Vikings

Berrian, Henderson, Winfield hurting for Vikings

1 hour, 14 minutes ago

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP)?The Minnesota Vikings have three starters fighting injuries: Wide receiver Bernard Berrian(notes), middle linebacker E.J. Henderson(notes) and cornerback Antoine Winfield(notes).
Berrian hurt his left hamstring last week at Pittsburgh. Winfield missed that game because of an injury to his right foot. Henderson?s knee is on the mend. They were all held out of Wednesday?s practice.

The Vikings visit Green Bay this weekend in Brett Favre?s(notes) return to Lambeau Field. The quarterback appeared on the injury report with a hip problem, and Favre was listed as limited in Wednesday?s practice.
Another starter, linebacker Ben Leber(notes), was limited in practice because of a calf injury.

The Packers will get beat like dogs this week.
.................................................................

wait a minute there Tonto

I thought this was the game that Favre was going to be booed so loud in Green Bay that he would not hear his own plays, fumble , get sacked, throw interceptions.

you really think Green Bay has no chance ?

or are you doing one of them reverse jinx thingees

By the end of this game......Green Bay will be getting boo-ed off the field.

Do yourself a simple favor: Take all the Favre bullshit out of the picture.

Now, ask yourself which team is better, and go make your bet.

Minnesota (+3) at Green Bay

Anyone else have the feeling there will be no in-between for Bret Favre's performance? He's either going to light it up or it will be the mother of all meltdowns.

OK theses guys might have the right prediction but lets put this into a little more light..

GB has held opponent to 174 yards passing.. Yep this number is a fraud.. They played Culpepper, D. Anderson, and Boller. Detroit, Cleveland, and St Louis.. Cutler threw up and down the field but he sucks in the red zone. Cincy ran down the Pack's throat not needing to pass.. Favre threw for 271 yards with a great completion rate.. The Vikes also sat on the ball the entire 4th q as well otherwise he would of been well over 300.. The Pack have quite simply not faced a team this year other than the previous matchup with the Vikes. Vikes can run, throw, and the pass protection vs the blitz is much better. Peterson is going to be tough for them.. To hold the VIKES to 16 - 17 points is not feasable IMO and is a joke. What the Vike's defense does is up in the air but offense wise the Vikes will not be stopped by that over rated, taking advantage of shit teams defense. Like I say though, I am a HOMER.

Oh yeah the article forgets to mention that Rogers was SACKED 8 times in the last meeting. That offensive line didn't drink any potion to get much better. Green Bay one dimentional in this game. Down to 3 healthy regular receivers although they are good in Jennings, Driver, and Jones. Jenniongs could get knocked out of the game as he is one to do many times..
FUCK THE PACK

Tremendous suggestion for Green Bay fans: Silence for Favre

By MJD

ept_sports_nfl_experts-792212649-1256834106.jpg

Have you ever been in a stadium of 70,000 people when it's been dead quiet? It's an odd and off-putting feeling. No one is comfortable.
There are only three reasons it ever happens: 1) A moment of silence for a regent tragic event; 2) An injury that looks to be really, really serious; or 3) An unlikely catastrophe at the end of the game that costs the home team the win, and likely something more, like a chance at a championship.
None of the three feel good. The default setting for a packed stadium is noisy, and when it gets quiet, it's weird. No one likes it.

But it would be, as suggested by JSOnline's Michael Hunt (that link requires a subscription, unfortunately), a tremendous way for Green Bay fans to treat Brett Favre(notes). Here's a snippet:
But there is another way to acknowledge Favre, a middle road, if you will. We're talking about a wholly unrealistic, literally in-a-vacuum welcome back for No. 4, yet a response that would be completely appropriate for the occasion.
And that would be dead and utter silence. [...]
In a sophisticated way, a small town that is not exactly viewed as such by the outside world could emphatically say that the game to follow is bigger than one player.
It might also freak him out.
He's expecting to be booed, and maybe hear some cheers, too: basically, nothing he hasn't heard before in his career. Anything that stays within the boundaries of normal stadium behavior will have no effect on Favre. He's a professional.
He's also sort of disrespecting Packers fans by saying that the game is nothing special to him, there's nothing special about playing in Lambeau, and he won't be the least bit sentimental. Doesn't that make you angry, Packers fans? That Favre sees nothing special at all about his return to Lambeau as a Vikings?
If you want to get to him, it's going to take the unexpected. I see only two ways to accomplish this. First would be the usual hate, taken to an ugly, extreme, violent level. I'm talking about throwing things, things that might hurt a man if they hit him, threats, the most boorish, personal and hateful of signs, etc. Obviously, we can't have this, as it's illegal, dangerous and wrong.
The dead silence, though, I think would be equally effective. There's no way that wouldn't jar Favre and everyone else. It would be unlike anything he's experienced in his career, and it would produce a chilling effect in the stadium and on television.

Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt encourages wearing flip-flops to mark Minnesota Vikings' QB Brett Favre's return

By Paul Srubas
psrubas@greenbaypressgazette.com
Green Bay residents are encouraged to wear flip-flops to work on Friday to prepare for quarterback Brett Favre's return to Lambeau Field as a Minnesota Viking.
It's just one of a few ways the city is celebrating Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt's "4 Days to Victory" before Sunday's big game.
Schmitt solicited residents' suggestions all week for activities to rev up Packers fans in advance of the matchup. Sifting through more than 1,700 suggestions, Schmitt announced the four choices, one for each day between now and game day.

Today, all public and private school eighth-graders are being asked to suggest the "Top 12 Reasons 4 Staying in Green Bay." The winning list will be announced Saturday, and the class will receive $300.

♦ Thursday, the mayor will officially ? although temporarily ? rename Minnesota Avenue as Aaron Rodgers Drive. New signs will be installed at 10 a.m. on the short road on the city's east side. The designation will continue up until Monday.

♦ Flip Flop Friday will pay homage to Favre's difficulty to make up his mind whether to retire over the last few years.

Saturday, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Titletown Brewing Co., 200 Dousman St., will host a Packers Rally. It will serve "waffle fries" :142smilie ? also in homage to Favre's "waffling" ? and solicit Packers-themed name suggestions for its new beer and root beer, which will be served as part of the celebration.

needless to say.."Daddy is coming home."

I have been to Lambeau when it has been dead quiet... Last year when they lost to the Falcons.. Yes I am ALL FIRED UP for this game.. Cause the Packer fans up here just think they are going to ROLL.. They might get "lucky" and win but it won't be a rolling. If anyone does the rolling it will be the PURPLE!!

Yeah, BP! Vikings should win. It doesn't mean they will. But, in almost all facets the Vikings are the better team.

Green Bay hasn't shored up the offensive line (here comes Jared Allen, et.al.) and have no running game (Ahman Green is back - seriously?:142smilie )

I am going to root my ASS off for my Vikes and then party like it's 1999 when we win!:00hour
