In reviewing trends, South Florida looks to be the play. They're typically solid as a dog, but most of these covers came with Grothe at QB. West Vagina has been poor ATS under Bill Stewart going just 6-12.
It's no surprise that So.Fla is 5-2 as their only notable win is Florida State. The Bulls' first three opponents featured two non FBS schools and WKentucky, who just this year was inducted to Div-I and royally sucks. I will throw out the season statistics for the Bulls and focus on their recent games for a better perspective and they are not good....their defense is not very good either and appears overhyped. Sure they can take credit for beating a schizophrenic FSU team that had 4 TO's and was coming off a win over BYU where they felt like they were National Title contenders again. After the FSU game, the SF defense has given up over 250 passing ypg and close to 160 rushing ypg. Their offense has SUCKED as well managing to pass for 168 per game and rushing for 138. WVU has an excellent rush defense that holds opponents to 86 yards per game and they are 9th in the country in rush defense. BJ Daniels isn't much of a passer. Sure he is exciting when he is running, but he connects on just 53% of his passes and has 7 to 6 TD/INT ratio.
This game should come down to who will be more effective running the ball and I believe WVU will be able to run better and contain SF from being able to run the ball consistently. West Vagina's one loss was @ Auburn and they should have won this game IMHO as they outgained Auburn by over 100 yards and would have covered if not for a fluke turnover late in that game.
Devine is also a home run threat anytime he touches the ball and I can't say the same for anyone on South Florida. Daniels was even yanked last week against Pittsburgh and appears to be hitting a freshman funk. Brown hasn't been a world beater, but he's tough and tested plus a 5th year Senior signal caller.
Leaning West Vagina, but have yet to pull the trigger. Thoughts from others???
