Hey, u may wanna look around on the UCF website to confirm this. At 5:25 PM on Friday, 104.9 FM (Sportstalk radio channel in Austin) reported that the starting QB and RB for UCF are out.

from the team website:

Quarterback Brett Hodges, one of the heroes of the Marshall win, emerged from Sunday night with a gimpy knee and bruised ribs from the many hits he took. Hodges is expected to play today, but the Knights can ill afford to expose him to too many hits from a Texas defense that is as good as any in the nation. The Knights need Hodges healthy next week if they are to keep up with high-scoring Houston.

from today's orlando sentinel:

Forget the suggestion that the Knights should bench their starters with bigger games looming, including a homecoming showdown next week with No. 13 Houston.

UCF Coach George O'Leary said senior quarterback Brett Hodges looked good all week in practice and should start against the Longhorns. Junior wide receiver Jamar Newsome, who suffered a strained ACL against Marshall Sunday, is the only starter or key reserve expected to miss the Texas game.

I figured this line at 26-27. UCF has experience, and previous success vs Texas. Texas is clearly in a letdown spot. Solid defensive team playing with confidence +5 TDs in a morning game? I'm all over it!!!! I played UCF as my largest play of the week.

Good luck.....

numbers look good to me too. Only negative the strength of schedule. C fla strength of schedule so far isranked 122nd most difficult. Tex SOS is around 40. i think it is still a play.

I am on them for 3 units, but I got 36 points. As far as Hodges and Harvey being out, my morning St. Pete Times mentions nothing about themnot playing. One concern is that according to the UCF website, O'Leary is on record stating that they consider next weeks game against Houston to be of geater importance than todays game. The article states that O'Leary will not hesitate to pull starters if the Texas defense if physically pounding the UCF offense, as he wants to preserve the offensive starters for the Houston game which could decide the USA Conf. Harvey (QB) was hurt against Marshall with a knee injury and bruised ribs, but finished the game.

LDB, the potential problem I see for UCF covering is that I'm not sure that they can score on the Texas D. Their strength is running the FB and Texas' strength is stopping the run. I like the over in this one as the best bet. Texas should light it up against the Knights.

Williams questionable for UT; UCF Starting QB & RB Out
11/7/2009 1:30 AM
By: News 8 Austin Staff

Texas defensive back Aaron Williams is listed as questionable
for the UCF game Saturday with a right knee injury.

The Knights will likely be without starting quarterback Brett Hodges and starting running back Brynn Harvey due to injuries.

Longhorn Defensive Tackle Calvin Howell and Offensive Guard Mason Walters are both out with injuries and both freshman won't play.

Speaking of not playing, big news coming out of Central Florida.
Their starting quarterback and running back will sit out of the
game this Saturday due to injuries, according to Bay News 9 in Tampa.

UCF Quarterback Brett Hodges has sore ribs. He has thrown for close to 16 hundred yards and ten touchdowns.

Knights Running Back Brynn Harvey was seen practicing with the team Thursday afternoon with no apprarent injury, but we won't speculate. The report is both are out and that's a blow for the Knights.

As for the Horns offense, could this be the breakout game Cody Johnson has been waiting for? He's been the goalline back for
Texas now for a couple of years.

Cody is Thunder and Fozzy Whittaker is Lightning. Both are
comfortable with their roles and they should be because they are
both listed as co starters at Running Back for the game against
the Central Florida Knights Saturday.

ORLANDO - BHSN has learned that UCF's starting quarterback and running back are both unlikely to play in Saturday's game at (2) Texas.

A source tells BHSN's David Baumann that quarterback Brett Hodges has sore ribs and was receiving as many as six hours of treatment each day this week. Hodges was also seen walking gingerly around the UCF sports complex this week.

As for running back Brynn Harvey, BHSN college football analyst and former UCF quarterback Kyle Israel saw the sophomore practicing Thursday with the team and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. He had been previously been nicked up a few times this season, and has only missed a few plays due to injuries.

Hodges, a senior transfer from Wake Forest and a graduate of Winter Springs high school, has thrown for 1558 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He led the Knights (5-3) to a comeback 21-20 win over Marshall last Sunday with 342 yards passing and two touchdowns.

Harvey, a graduate of Largo high school, has rushed for 679 yards and seven touchdowns in 2009.

UCF takes on the Longhorns (8-0) at 12:00 p.m. ET from Austin, Texas. Our David Baumann will have a report from the game Saturday night on the Toyota Sports Connection at 11:00 p.m. on BHSN, cable channel 47.
