SU shooting guard Andy Rautins visited the Carrier Dome for his team's Tuesday practice. But Rautins, who wore a clunky walking boot to protect his sprained ankle, said he would substitute treatment on the ankle for practice with the team.

As for his availability for Wednesday's Dome date with Robert Morris, Rautins said, "I want to play. We'll just see how it feels. It's a day to day thing. ... I know the guys will take care of business, but I really like being out there for them. We'll see how it feels tomorrow."

SU coach Jim Boeheim, when asked whether we should assume Rautins would not play Wednesday, given that he did not practice on Tuesday, said, "I wouldn't assume that."

So we'll see. Rautins said the ankle hurt and that he didn't get much sleep Monday night. He pushed a pass inside to Arinze Onuaku and then landed on an Albany defender's foot. He rolled his ankle, hobbled to the SU locker room and did not emerge until the post-game ceremony that honored Boeheim for his 800th win.

Rautins looked drained and defeated Tuesday.

"I'm just tired," he said. "I didn't get a lot of sleep last night -- elevating (the ankle). it was pretty uncomfortable."

Rautins, the senior guard, is no stranger to training rooms and injuries. He tore his ACL and has endured other nagging injuries over the years.

"You can't do anything about them, though," he said. "That's just the way it goes. I feel like everything happens for a reason. I don't what this reason is."

Rautins played 21 minutes in SU's rout of Albany. He was 0-for-6 from the field, but he grabbed five rebounds, had five assists and four steals. His teammates credited him for their intensity on defense.

After he left the game, his father Leo Rautins was observed texting on his cell phone in the SU stands. Andy Rautins said he texted his dad from the trainer's room to let him know what happened.

"I just said I rolled it, was done for the game and was in a lot of pain," Andy Rautins said. "He just said, 'Keep your head in the right frame of mind.'"
