all you degenerate gamblers need to watch the ESPN 30 for 30 about Jimmy the Greek. Its an awesome biographical look at one of the best sports and horse handicappers to ever live. I highly recommend it. Its playing this week on ESPN, set your dvr's :toast:

While I enjoyed it, there was certainly some truth stretching.

For example...he says he bet Truman as a 17-1 dog. A quick google search shows Truman was about a 4-1 dog. Yet Jimmy bet bet 10,000 and won 170,000.

Great showman...yes. One of the best handicappers ever...no.

I can only remember one tip he had that has proved beneficial.

He was advocate of streaks--if a team wins 4 in row bet they will win the 5th--the reverse would be they are due to lose.

Another way of saying-I'm not getting off this train till it stops--allows you to win many wagers in succession but only lose one.

So. Cal
a great show. but indeed some truth stretching went on

and i'll always remember his most glorious predictions

the 1985 nfc championship game.....he had the rams straight up over the bears.....and had the rams with the advantage in every one of his categorys except home field advantage.

i'm still waiting for deiter brock...WHO?....to lead that horse shit team to a score vs the 46 zone.

At least he knew to give it up after that one season. :sadwave: Wonder how many QB's played one season, led their team to Championship game then was gone the next. I don't recall whether he retired or was released, but that was an odd situation I know he came down from CFL, but still unusual

In 1985 Brock played for the Los Angeles Rams before retiring from football. Technically a rookie during his one season with the Rams, Brock led the team to an NFC Championship Game matchup with the Chicago Bears, and set team rookie records for passing yards (2,658), touchdown passes (16), and passer rating (81.8). All these records were still on the books at the end of 2006.
Brock still holds the Blue Bombers record for career passing yards with 29,623. In 2005, for the commemoration of the Blue Bombers 75th anniversary, Brock was named one of the 20 All-Time Blue Bomber Greats. He was elected into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1995.

Just wondered if he technically retired or realized he better retire before he was going to be released. Seems like he was at the age he wanted to prove he could have played in NFL and after he did, he said "To hell with it. I'm too old to take this beating."

that 85 Chicago team may be the best team I have ever seen. New England killed Oakland, New York, and Miami on the road that season, and Chicago completely dominated them. They were incredible, surprised me they didn't reign longer.
