Lebron and Co up 7 at half. Washington takes a small lead to end 3Q. Lebron sits on the bench first 6 mins of 4Q watches Wizards go on a 17-6 run and now up 14. Sometimes teams need to just take a night off when they get the call.

Same thing happened the night before vs. GSW. Cavs were teetering on covering the 14, then the King sits for half the 4th qtr and they almost lose outright. Not fixed, just bad coaching, period. Lebron played every minute up until the 4th.

You guys need to read the excerpts from Donaghy's book... then come back and tell me the NBA is a fairly-played, un-fixed game.

Everyone from the water boy to the refs to the announcers know the spread and total for every game. When $ is involved...always hidden agendas.

Money corrupts people, that's why we are here handicapping this stuff.

agreed FT, especially when you see things involving totals and second half lines, which are sometimes less "obvious" to the public because fewer people bet (or even know about) half time lines. How many times have we seen a game look like it's going to land one way to go another way because a coach or a player did something inexplicable in the final seconds like foul intentionally when their team is down 11, or dribble out the clock when their team is down only 6, or whatever the situation might be that raises an obvious eyebrow.

As FT said EVERYONE involved in the game is well aware of the spread and the total...until the final whistle blows....

I do believe sports games are fixed. Not all though! The refs control it all! How can you say its not fixed when a few years ago nba refs got caught and openly admitted to it? Either way, im sure I have been on both sides of a fix. Just remember not all of them are fixed. Anything that is computer generated, meaning that they know where the money is, high chances they are fixed. For example jai-alai, slot machines, any type of lottery drawings. Come on wake up vegas never loses...............you can look up where the money is with vegas and see that every night they walk away winners!

We all want to believe in our minds that games are not fixed.. We have it in out hearts that the games we love are pure but lets face it the shit that happens especially in the NBA is rediculous sometimes..

REALLY???

REALLY???

I agree that some funny things happen and I agree that there are games that have been fixed, no doubt. BUT, HT lines would have NOTHING to do with it...

We are talking about NBA players.... who make a minimum of how many million??? And they are going to risk that job for a few hundred or thousand? :nono: VEGAS limits what can be put on a NBA HT play, I'm sure if you check, the offshores do as well, and it's a low limit, like $500 or $1000.

So what we are saying, is in the 10 minutes or so that the NBA breaks for half and we have time to wager, these RHODE SCHOLARS that play in the NBA can factor in the HT line and what they have to do in the 2H and why??? :mj07:

Of course I'm being sarcastic, the only way it could come into play is a group effort. I believe that the game is played pretty legit, and then at the end, it may be mentioned to the players or "player" that certain people would like a certain score or result and if it's within your power, can you sort of make that happen?? Only the end of a game, and that being a select few I believe fall into this category.

BTW... how you going to rig a last second THREE? I mean the best players in the world don't hit 50% of these shots, so there's no way that can be counted on, but some of the other stuff, slowing down the tempo, missing layups, turnovers, etc do look a little funny when the game is on the line....:(

You really think Mike Brown is fixing a game by sitting Lebron?? That is so absurd. I'm not saying some refs haven't been influenced over the years, but I agree with Rander, to think these players are in on it on a consistent basis is absurd. Furthermore, if you really think HT over/unders are being manipulated by players, IMO, you are stretching this in a huge way. It feels like a case of self-importance to me. There isn't even enough money in play to worry about crappy HT lines, let alone HT over/unders. When people fix stuff, it usually gets out in public (see Donaghy). If that many games are rigged, we would find out about it. If players were in on it, it would leak. They aren't. It's called occam's razor.

There are thousands and thousands of games per year. A lot of "strange" things are going to happen. You are going to be on the wrong side of many of those, if you are betting all the time. Blaming the "fix" is such an easy way out. The attitude of when you win, you are a genius, when you lose, it was "fixed," absolutely kills me.

And Vegas is rich because it has the law of large numbers on it's side, it doesn't need to cheat to skew the odds in its favor.

These are my opinions only, I am not trying offend anybody.

Maybe because CLEV was on a B2B, it was pre-determined before the game that KING would sit to start to the 4th regardless of the score. IF Coach Brown had let his team know that Lebron would need rest and would be sitting to start the 4th, he may have been challenging his team to step up and either build a big lead with the KING, or challenge his bench to play well w/o him. Obviously, it this was the plan, he would HAVE to stick with it regardless of the result. It's still NOVEMBER, not MAY in the NBA.

I see this all the time with the LAKERS.... PHIL does this crap constantly to motivate his teams, and as a fan and someone who wagered on the game, it pisses you off! BUT, the bottom line is, championships are won in May/June, not November...

I also agree with JORD20, if you are going to fix a game, why not go with a small college team, off the wall location, no national coverage, and pay some broke college kid.... money is money, doesn't matter if you win it on FIU or the CELTICS! :D

Tell me this Denver up 10 - 1Q then Clippers go on a 17-0 run. Denver takes 4 YES FOUR FUCKING SHOTS in the 1st 6 mins of the 2Q. PEOPLE FOUR. DENVER TRIES TO TAKE FOUR SHOTS IN A MINUTE OR 90 TICKS.

BAD COACHING TOLD DENVER TO NOT SHOOT THE BALL AND ONLY TAKE 4 SHOTS IN 6 MINS. :142smilie

Players dont fix games, but Refs do...that has been proven.

The reason I don't think players fix games is because for a game to be fixed you have to have an effect on the game. That means you're talking about elite players who are making 10s of millions of dollars, and the amount of $$$ it'd cost to get them to fix the 1 single game, then factor in the book having to make the money back plus profit, just isn't worth it.

No refs, that's a whole new story. On top of the fact that's it has been proven that refs fix games.

Read Tim Donahey's exerpts and then tell us what you think.

Ive always said any time the human element is involved with money there is going to be funny business to what extent I dont know. I do believe funny things go in some games. I would lean more towards college players and professional officials as the culprits.

As for Lebron anyone that watches a lot of Cavs games as I do considering Im in Ohio would know he routinely sits to start every second and fourth quarter while Mo Williams stays on the floor and when Lebron enters the second quarter Mo is usually done for the half. As for the 4th its the same but Mo doesnt sit quite as long. They have even been taking Mo out late in the first and third quarters and then re inserting him to start the second and fourth. That has been their rotation for two years. Period.

Regardless of the rotation. IF YOU WANT TO WIN THE GAME YOU DONT LET YOUR STAR SIT WHILE THE OTHER TEAM GOES FROM BEING DOWN 7 TO UP 14 AND EXPECT TO STILL WIN. That being said that is nothing more than throwing a game. You call a time out after a 7 or 10-0 run and get your 24 yr old SUPERSTAR off the bench regardless of how many minutes he has played and you stop the bleeding.......Oh that is of course if YOU WANT TO WIN THE GAME. :director:

you really think that many people could keep it a secret?

if one person has a secret "agenda" or "fix" it might work, but to claim that EVERYONE is in on it is impossible...

that many people would not be able to keep it quiet

im sure its been asked before, if you are that paranoid about it being fixed, why continue to bet?
