Ohio but not a Buckeye
I have a laptop I got in AUG 2008, and the warranty ran out in AUG 2009, obviously in October, my laptop CHARGER PORT(not the charger itself, but where the charger goes into the computer) stopped reading the charger, and my laptop wont charge.

I've tried my charger on a friends laptop who has the same charger, and it works fine, so it's not the charger itself. It's the port where the charger goes into the computer.

Geek squad said since the warranty is out, it'll be 129.99$ to look at, then how much ever to fix.

HELP!! I'm tired of using this desktop!

Nevermind.Sorry. Charger port not part of battery but trying a new battery might be test.

Also doesn't Geek Squad put the $129 to look at it towards the repair if you go with them to fix the issue. Most other places do.

hell they take forever to fix laptops when you take them to them, they send it to the company who made laptop and charge you more, went that way 1 time, took 3 weeks to get back , use a local pc repair place much better and stand behind their work for most part, geek fags had to take it back 3 times and they lost files, now use a great small local place who is done in 1-2 days tops , sometimes come to office and fix it there in a few hours.

Have you tried the old school Intellivision cartridge wont work trick?

Blow in it.

Kickserv will get that and he will tell you it works.

BUCS....Do not take it to GEEK SQUAD. They scan you computer for anything illegal and report to authorities. Look on craigslist for a local computer repair shop. Most likely it needs to be replaced or resoilder to the motherboard. Most of the time the connector breaks inside.

you will have to have the system board replaced on the laptop to replace the charging port. Depending on how old the laptop is you might be better off buying another one

Best bet is to take it to a local guy. He can probably resolder the connection for about 2 hours labor.
