Anybody from Boston area have a clue as to how much any players will play this Sunday.
The Patriots have been 1 point underdogs against the Colts and the Saints this year.
They are 9 point underdogs against Houston this weekend????
Are the big 3 playing at all? Brady,Welker, and Moss?
I have not heard anything saying they will sit or even be pulled as of yet so why the big line?

My big concern is Welker as I am in a Salary Fantasy League and need to know his status also if they are playing at least 3 quarters then 9 points is WAY TOO HIGH.

I have not heard any official word yet but reading the paper this mroning it would seem that some starters will be sitting. The players, however, seem to be at least verbally stating that they want to carry the momentum from the Jax game into this one and so on.... the patriots are notorius for not leaking information and keep it tight lipped. Further, at least from my perspective they also tend to play their players in meaningless games a little too much.

All that being said I cannot see them playing the big three beyond a few series. they simply cannot risk a big injury and they don not have a bye this year to rest in between games.

I will keep you posted on any info. from the boston area.

Coach Bill Belichick suggested Tuesday that the Patriots will not be resting healthy starters against the Texans this week.

"That's not really something we've done, and in all honesty I wouldn't even anticipate doing it," Belichick said. The Pats under Belichick have been loathe to mess with potential playoff implications around the league, and the Texans remain in the Wild Card hunt.

Well this line opened at 7.5 and it has seen 9 and currently back to 8.
It sounds like a layup to take the 9 if Pats play all the way to the end.
This line will crash soon if Vegas thinks Pats will go all out.

Amazing how the lines have reacted this year...

...well, more to the point, I think it's amazing how this seems to be the FIRST year that they have reacted at all!

Just did some (quick and rough) research back over the last 3 years...

Teams with nothing to play for (not surprisingly) have not fared all that well.

3 years ago 4 of 6 teams with nothing to play for failed to cover...BUT...there were some huge lines! (I hope I got on some of these! :142smilie )
SD won SU but didn't cover the -13
Balt won (and covered) 19-7 v. Buff
Indi won SU but didn't cover -9. (Sogi got a good run)
NE won @ Tenn as +3.5 dogs.
Bears lost 7-26 as -3.5 favs v. GB...3 QB's got a go.
NO lost 21-31 v. Carolina as +3.5 dogs (finally a realistic line!!)

NE won SU but didn't cover -13!! @ NYG.
Indi lost 10-16 to Tenn as +4.5 dogs...Sorgi again, plus the Titans had something to play for.
TB lost 23-31 (+3) to Panthers, McCown @ QB.
GB still belted Detroit 34-13 as -3.5 favs...Favre and Nall @ QB...Lions would struggle to win with me behind centre tho, as we know.
Seattle lost 41-44 @ Atl (-2 favs!)..lots of Wallace, but also Redman for the Falcons.
Pits lost 21-27 @ Balt (-3 favs!!) with Batch in control. Troy Smith QB'd for Ravens who had nothing to play for, but still...

Last year, both Pits and Balt won and covered with back-up QB's...
...but Titans lost 0-23 @ Indi, although neither team cared much with lots of Sorgi and Young (who was behind Collins).

Seems like the penny has finally dropped to line makers now tho...
...Houston and Jets both BIG favs against teams who don't care...
...SD are -4 favs still tho, although early indications point to them going all out...

Need to do a bit more reading, but I think a better angle could be teams who "need" to win often seem to lay too many points.
As far as I can see, Chic, Minni and Atl all lost ats last year...Panthers either did or didn't depending on the line, but it was close either way.
NE did cover the -5.5 @ Buff.

Denver and Balt both DD favs...

Also, its important to seperate teams in the playoffs that will pull their starters vs teams that will not make the playoffs but are playing loose, with pride, and for their jobs next year!

figure this quote out by Belichick

?I wouldn?t even anticipate doing it, having that discussion right now,? Belichick said. ?What?s going to happen now is we?re going to go through the game plan, players will come in tomorrow, and everyone is going to get ready to play. And that?s how we?re going to approach it. Whoever plays, plays. Whoever doesn?t play, doesn?t play. But it?s like that every week. We could go out there and on the first play of th game something could happen and somebody else could be in there.

?Everyone needs to be ready to go all of the time.?

??? ...so does everyone need to be prepared although they may not get in ? or do they need to be prepared to play because they are playing?

This is different than other years as NE usually has the first round of the playoffs off.
Does Brady to Moss really need to be worked on?
I know it if they get the 3 seed then they avoid a matchup @Indy until title game but if there is one team who really doesn't care who or where they play it is NE.

I think it would be somewhat foolish to play these guys at all but I am sure they will go a half.
The local Houston radio guys think they will play and be benched at half if it is a two score game either way.
If it is close then maybe they come out for some or even all of the 2ndH because Bill doesn't like to roll over and concede under any circumstances.
