NHL officials are considering the possibility that a forecast of heavy snow or rain could cause the Winter Classic to be moved to Saturday. Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, league officials said that consideration will be given to moving the game from Friday if heavy snowfall would impede playing the contest. ?It?s kind of too early to decide right now what we are going to do, we have to finish our build out phase, we?ll continue to monitor the weather,? said Don Renzulli, Senior Vice President of Events for the NHL. ?We?re prepared for a number of different issues. When we get to Thursday we?ll make a call based on the current weather forecast. Right now it looks like we?ll be good to go and play the game."
