YTD record: 79-56 for +27.7 units
That + number was a lot better looking 5 days ago. Here?s to the beautification project:
Auburn/Tennessee Under 154 for 1 unit
Gonzaga +4.5 for 3 units ? when St. Mary?s hosts in this rivalry the games are always close. Zags as usual are road tested and have played tougher competition to this point. I think it shows tonight in a close game, I?ll gladly take the points.
G?Town -6.5 for 2 units
Providence -3 for 8 units ? been all over the place with this play as hinted in my post last night. First on the Providence end, Marshon Brooks (ankle) travelled with the team and will attempt to play despite not practicing this week. For DePaul, it?s been an interesting week as Jerry Wainwright was finally fired. Assistant coach Tracy Webster has been named interim head coach to serve out the year. Webster is an experienced assistant (served under Bruce Weber and John Calipari) and has an outside shot at the job, but there needs to be a stark improvement in play from a talent-less DePaul squad. There was only one player that was disappointed by the change, forward/center Mac Koshwal. Koshwal is one of only two Big East caliber players on DePaul?s roster and he has averaged 15 pts. and 11 boards this season. There were different reports I heard from people close to the program, but the fact is Koshwal will not play in the game tonight. At first it was believe he was moping because of the firing, but it has been confirmed that he will be out due to a flare up of a foot injury (plantar fasciitis) that kept him out 8 games earlier this season. Being one of DePaul?s main scorers and only inside presence, the Blue Demons really struggled in his absences averaging only 63 pts a game in that stretch against some pretty meager competition. They were also rebounded essentially in all of those contests. Short of it is that DePaul is going to struggle without Koshwal as they have in the past. And if somehow he does play, he is likely going to be limited due to the fact that he didn?t practice this week.
Prov/DePaul Under 145.5 for 2 units ? with Koshwal out, DePaul will struggle to get above 65 points in this one. However, when Koshwal gets back in the lineup, expect a higher paced play from DePaul compared to their games earlier this season. Webster likes to play a faster pace and I think there will be some opportunity on Overs in DePaul games going forward.
