Atlantic Division rivals meet in historic Madison Square Garden Friday when the Toronto Raptors visit the New York Knicks.
The Raptors, who lead the Knicks by 2 1/2 games for second place in the division, dropped the opener of a brief two-game road trip in Indianapolis on Monday when Danny Granger finished with 23 points, as the Indiana Pacers overcame a big deficit to top Toronto, 105-101, at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Toronto's lead reached 23 in the second quarter, but the Pacers closed the half strong and were within 13 at the break. The Raptors then shot only 20.6 percent in the second half, making just seven field goals, allowing Indiana to overtake the lead to snap a two-game slide.
Chris Bosh had 27 points and 10 boards to record his NBA-best 28th double- double of the season, but Toronto lost its second straight after winning eight of the previous nine. Andrea Bargnani had 17 rebounds and 12 points in the loss.
"[The] Pacers are a high-powered offensive team," said Toronto guard Jarrett Jack. "We knew they were capable of making a comeback like that. The next time we play them we just have to know that we have to do a better job of locking down on them and the game is not over until the final buzzer goes off."
The Knicks, meanwhile, are coming off an exciting win in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
David Lee had a game-high 24 points and got the game-winning layup to drop with 14.9 seconds left in that one, as New York took a 93-92 decision from the 76ers at the Wachovia Center.
Wilson Chandler added 18 points and Al Harrington had 17 points and seven rebounds for New York, which salvaged a win out of its three-game road trip. Jared Jeffries checked in with 15 points and nine boards.
The Knicks had dropped nine straight in Philadelphia, earning a road win against the 76ers for the first time since an overtime triumph on December 17, 2004.
Marreese Speights hit a jumper to put the Sixers in front with 26.9 seconds left, but Lee came back with his game-winning bucket. That left Philadelphia with a chance to tie or win the game on the last possession, but Rodney Carney's shot from deep on the right wing was off the mark.
"We got a little lucky that he (Carney) missed a shot at the end but I thought our guys played extremely hard, worked the zone well and David Lee hit some big shots down the stretch," said Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni.
The Raptors have taken four of their past six meetings with the Knicks.
