Tough night Poon. On a lighter note, I wanted to get your take on the future of the Depaul program? As we all know Wainwright was flat out not cutting it during his tenure, but will Webster be the answer? I feel his style of play meshes well with the other Big East schools, but his coaching philosophy is not going to make them contenders by any stretch of the imagination. I would have to think that his recruiting would not fare well either, which is a significant reason the program has been stuck in medicority for such a long time.
Ponsetto needs to make a splash and now is the time to do it. They need to be willing to pay the new coach a sizable salary to take on the reins of this team and dig them back up to respectability. Fran McCaffery, Brad Stevens, or Chris Lowery would be ideal fits in my opinion as they have built strong reputations for their programs and are at the tops of their conferences year in and year out with recruiting. I think they all would be great candidates to get the Demons back to being competitive. What are your thoughts on this? Good to hear some ideas from someone who is close to the program and sees the frustration that has been developing for years and years.
Best,
Kaiser
