My anniversary is coming up and we are looking to get away for 4-5 days. I don't care where I go, just want it to be all inclusive and warm weather.

I am looking to go at the end of April and will probably go during the week, since it generally is a bit cheaper.

Is there a good site to go that will reviews/prices/etc for vacation getaways?

I really have no defined area. I just want something warm, not cheap, but not top of the line, all inclusive, no kids. It could be caribbean, mexico, florida, myrtle beach, cali

Ideally would go for 4 nights and would like to keep the cost under 2k

You should be able to do that but bring another 2k on the trip for expenses. I had my own pad in Jamaica, a driver that cooked for us too, and stayed in Montego Bay - for around 1500 (not all inclusive though, but much better we got to go anywhere we wanted whenever and really experienced Jamaica). We probably spent 3k when we were on the island doing tons of shit (Negril, beaches, rafting, boating, non stop partying, eating lobster every night). Probably one of the best vacations I've ever been on.

we really have no intention of doing anything but sitting at the pool and drinking/relaxing.

We have been on cruises and excursions quite a few times, but this is our first getaway since having kids.

No all-inclusives in the US. Look at playacar or Negril.

The Riviera Maya area of Mexico is nice and relatively inexpensive, depending on what you consider expensive. We've stayed at two different all-inclusives down there, and there a a lot down there. Some of them are a part of other resorts and are linked together by land and you can take advantage of parts of the others.

A great website that combines links, information and especially reviews by actual travelers is TripAdvisor.com. I suggest that for anyone traveling anywhere - they have member reviews that are very helpful and complete, and site reviews, plus listings of everything that's available in all areas.

Check that site out, and search for the things that are important to you. One other thought - the area around Playa Del Carmen there offers some nice all-inclusives, and Playa Del Carmen has some great night life, if you ever want to cut loose a little bit. We've stayed at the Catalonia Riviera Maya which was very inexpensive yet nice, and the Barcelo, which was more upscale but we didn't necessarily enjoy it that much more. Plenty to choose from down that way.

I can reference cheap caribean dot com.

They are solid. I would go with Mexico or Jamaica if you're just looking to relax and park it at the pool. Food is a priority so use trip advisor to make sure the food is satisfactory. I skip food reviews from people that aren't from my area as we usually have different tastes. My point being, there will be mixed reveiws but it could be culture related...

I second this. Although after using it through the years I've come to one universal truth. If there are a few nasty reviews amid 100s of great ones, look at the location of the reviewer. 9 of 10 times they are from NYC...apparently nothing is good enough for those uppity new yorkers. :tongue

thanks for all the input. I will keep an eye on cheapcaribbean for specials.

We have done Sandals twice and absolutely loved it. I would consider them on the pricier side

Now knowing there is no all-inclusives in US, I will probably keep an eye out for Jamacia. Flights from detroit seem to be a better going to Jam instead of Mex

Also, is there a day or time of month that is best to book? I know with airlines their specials are usually tue/wed. Are resort places generally like that?
