All they do is talk about Darren Sharper and how good he is on ESPN. Let's look at his INTs this season.

9 INTs is good but who did he intercept?

M. Stafford 2x
K. Kolb
M. Sanchez
C. Henne
M. Ryan
T. Brady
M. Moore

wow only one good QB there. Idk about you but Sharper doesn't look that good anymore.

Sharper is decent in the system he plays in but not really that good. Bites easy, his picks come on overthrows and tipped balls when he is roaming in the secondary.. Can't play man to man like he used to. Good QBs pick him apart.

first of all he is a safety not dback and his strenght was never being a lock down coverage guy. He is a very smart guy and has alot of experience getting secondary in right position to defend great offenses. He is like a qb on defense will always be around the ball and just knows the game and players tendancies. I know his former packer teamate Leroy Butler still talks about how he has helped turn the saints defense around.

This assessment ends here with "Only one good QB".

Brady.
Ryan.
There is two.
Moore was outstanding as a fill in.
(5 starts) 8 td's to 2 ints.
Sanchez not good ?

Ryan's Rankings:

21st in total pass yds.
20th in Passer Rtg.
13th in TD passes
11th most INTs

i wouldn't call that good. decent but not good

in the case or Moore there wasn't much film on him so he did better. This really helps his case while he is unknown. Having a relatively small body of work to study makes it had for defenses to game plan for him.

Without a full season of play the jury is still out on whether he is good or not.

I should of been more clear... He rarely plays in a man to man coverage.. Saints know that he can't take on the other team's tight end.. He is smart but often takes poor angles when tackling. He is a roamer and needs to be in a system where he is free to be the scondary QB type which the Saints play.. As a roamer he benefits from tipped balls and errant passes.. (Overthrows).. I see him as a virtual non threat against Manning..

really sanchez? you think he is good? o he's so good that the jets were so sick of him throwing INTs that they shrunk his playbook to about 5 plays and 4 of them were runs

If you don't think Matt Ryan is a good young QB then you're football knowledge is seriously lacking. Plus, he was injured half the season...

Compare Manning and Ryan's first two years:

M. Ryan =
2009 Atlanta Falcons 14 451 263 58.3 32.2 2,916 6.5 208.3 22 4.9 14 3.1 90T 31 4 19 92 80.9

2008 Atlanta Falcons 16 434 265 61.1 27.1 3,440 7.9 215.0 16 3.7 11 2.5 70T 45 9 17 104 87.7

Peyton Manning =
16 16 331 533 62.1 4,135 7.8 26 15 14 116 90.7 35 73 2.1 2 6 3
1998 Indianapolis Colts 16 16 326 575 56.7 3,739 6.5 26 28 22 109 71.2 15 62

M. Ryan had a way better season then Manning his first year... Manning had a better second season, but Ryan didn't play all of the games due to injury...

Bottom line youre an idiot if you don't think M. Ryan is a good QB.

Ryan is a good YOUNG QB don't get me wrong. but his numbers don't show that he is one of the better Qb's in the league.

I am not an idiot. did you see his stats? he is the 20th in passer rating. that is not good.

manning has 2 new WRs and still did fine. thats not a very good excuse

He was INJURED most of the season... He blew away Manning's first year in the league and although he was still INJURED he threw 22tds with only 14 picks. The guy is a good QB, period!

I guess if we're going just by "stats" then Brees, Rothlisberger, Phillip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, and Farve are all better QBs than Manning this year. Jesus.

First you're questioning if Darren Sharper good? The guy had 9 ints and is a great teammate... This isn't College he is till playing against pros and now you're questioning M. Ryan's abilities.

With GREER back, this gives Darren the freedom to ROAM as you put it, and not have to babysit the corners and dbs as he had to do in the latter part of the season. IMO this could be a REALISTIC LARGE ISSUE for MANNING come Sunday!!

Time will tell!

Yeah, maybe I'm just bitter because the dude sucked in the Viking cover 2 system... Also, I don't think the Saints D is any good. Do cause turnovers but I wouldn't expect Manning to make dumb pass like Favre or for them to fumble like mad.. SO I think Manning will shre the secondary, look what he did to the JETs and look what he does to the whole league.. I just hope the Saints keep up with them and I think that they will

BTW - Sharper is real good. He might be on his downturn, but is a five time pro bowl selection and just picked up this tidbit:

The following week, Sharper was selected for his fifth Pro Bowl. His 376 interception return yards broke the NFL single season record of 358 previously held by Ed Reed.

Sharper also shares an NFL record with Deion Sanders for most games with 50+ interception return yards (9) and owns the NFL record for most games with 75+ interception return yards (6).
