Sim may find it difficult to follow up a 62, but there is surely good value here in opposing the co-leader who has only ever held the lead after 36 holes on the PGA Tour twice previously. Both those occasions were in 2006 and he fell to 6th and 13th after those third rounds. Sim had a record-breaking season on the Nationwide Tour, so it is no surprise that he is in contention so early into this PGA Tour season.

I told my caddie before the round, look, I don't know anything about what's going to happen, but if we get into a situation where we might need to know what to do or to make a different decision, then you're in charge of that. So he was watching the leaderboards, and that 18th hole for the most part is not reachable for me, so I just really can't imagine a situation where I'm really going to make a different decision . . . If someone tells me, it's okay. I mean, it's not like it's going to send me off the deep end or something. It's just clutter, it's not something I'm focusing on. I mean, my goals are very different from shooting a low score this week. I know it sounds maybe a little off, but they are, they're very different than that.
