Geezus, Closed Early Fri,Closed Monday,Closed Today(Tues),Closed Wed,Prob Thurs(what I Heard) and Mon for made up Holiday PRESIDENTS Day... Pelosi had no Problem making it to the GTown game SAT with 24" snow on the ground..And we wonder why it takes so long for anything in DC to get accomplished :0corn
People walking around everywhere with cars, buses and cabs moving well throughout the city..

First of all the closing is more about the thousands of employees that work for the government not just the big politicians.

I will guess you are from Michigan in Detroit they average over somwhere in the early 40s inches of snow per year. Dc averages around 18 inches per year.

So in one storm they got more then what they usually get in one full winter. Its the same as detroit getting over 40+ inches in one storm. The area can not handle that much.

Also the new storm coming into today is only three days since a top three all time snowstorm for the area. There were not enough plows to keep up with the first storm now with this new storm there is even less plows because so many plows are damaged.

This will end up being the snowiest winter EVER for the area.

I understand it's not just the Politicians.. But the Metro,Bus lines, etc were all running ..
My friend made to all the meetings she had to with Private Business Clients(all Private Biz Clients made it to work) (all the Govt Clients Cancelled)
Her brother drove in from Gaithersburg!

One Day off fine but you had the whole weekend to dig out and plenty of people within Travelling distance...
Roads here in Wisconsin are not any better after a big storm but we are at Work!

tomorrow it`s blizzard conditions....45 mph winds,,,unreal drifts....12-20 more inches...

after tomorrow that will be around 45 inches of snow in less than a week....roofs collapsing..hundreds of thousands without power in freezing conditions....

a friend owns a tree service in owings mills...he highly recommended that i have the large pine in my backyard taken down in anticipation....and i did...

i hate the pols ,too,but this is the kind of weather that kills people....

Pro, folks were still digging out from the weekend and got hit again. The Federal Government depends on employees who commute from 50+ miles away. These commuters rely on other transportation than just the Metro or DC bus system in order to get to work. The commuter train service isn't running and plows have just gotten to some of the subdivisions today. Some homes are still without power which precludes even bathing!

You are able to sit smugly in your warm home and criticize while these folks are in the dark cold, cooking on camp and wood stoves trying to eat up the food that's rapidly spoiling on them. The DC area isn't equipped to handle storms such as the ones they have experienced this winter. Give 'em a break, eh?

he`s being ridiculous...snow emergency just went into phase 3...that means NO vehicles(other than city or federal) are allowed on the street in baltimore.....and theres nowhere to park anyway... certainly not enough parking gararges if you exclude the streets and outdoor parking lots(which are filled with snow)...that pretty much excludes any commuting plans any insane people might have had....

they have no place to put the snow...so they`re trying to haul it down to the inner harbor to push it into the harbor.....and they`re already getting flack from the environmentalists...:mj07: ....

dude,they JUST pulled the plows off the roads until the 50 mph winds died down...the plows were having to be pulled out because of lack of visibility....

This area is having worse storms than this guy has ever fucking saw.

And to have two huge storms almost back to back is huge.

And again you live a place where there is snow on the ground several months a year and you get used to it. This is a place that averages 20 inches per winter and now two back to back storms are going to top that number.

It is crazy that the whole state of Maryland and Delaware are under a blizzard warning, not sure if that has ever happened before.

Even down here at the beaches we are getting it. Moderate snow and winds over 35 with gusts to 50.

This area is heading for over 100 inches this season.

So lets see. If this area averages 20 inches a winter and gets 100 thats 5* the average.

So when you get 5* your normal amount in a winter which would be over 200 inches then maybe you may know what the fuck you are talking about.
