Some people seem to like this idea but I don't.
1) Less chance for upsets. I would assume that 96 means that the top eight seeds in each region get a bye. So a 9 seed gets to play three games in 5-6 days? So much for the NC State's and Villanova's getting past the first weekend.
2) Isn't the regular season basically meaningless enough without teams like UNC, UConn and Northeastern being a 20 seed with a chance to win it all after doing nothing? Why even try to play before your conference games start?
3) The play in game is a joke also. And why does Duke get the winner? If this is #64 and #65, they should be playing #1 overall. I don't think the Dookies qualify.
Expand? No, contract by one and feel free to leave out Utah State.
