Some people seem to like this idea but I don't.

1) Less chance for upsets. I would assume that 96 means that the top eight seeds in each region get a bye. So a 9 seed gets to play three games in 5-6 days? So much for the NC State's and Villanova's getting past the first weekend.

2) Isn't the regular season basically meaningless enough without teams like UNC, UConn and Northeastern being a 20 seed with a chance to win it all after doing nothing? Why even try to play before your conference games start?

3) The play in game is a joke also. And why does Duke get the winner? If this is #64 and #65, they should be playing #1 overall. I don't think the Dookies qualify.

Expand? No, contract by one and feel free to leave out Utah State.

Great question about Duke and I have yet to hear an answer to that.

Steve Lavin is math challenged too. He said he would add 6 teams, so there would be 4 play-in games. Uhhh Steve...that would be 3 more teams.

I agree they should not expand to 96 or anymore than 64.

I have a strong hatred for Duke and with them getting the #64 team just adds to it.

The play-in game is a joke. They have a system or conference tournament to pick the other 63 teams and they can't pick one more?

I like the expand to 68 idea. make teams like Illinois and Virgina Tech play the Utah St. and Florida's of the world. Make today a play-in day.

The winners of todays games will get the four 12 seeds. That way the winners of these games actually have a chance to win their next game instead of being sacrificial lambs for the next game.

So. Cal
the play in winner has to play on friday....this year that means they were to be paired with syracuse or duke (the 1's who play on fri)......guess since duke was higher rated, they get the play-iin winner....but i think it's usually sent to the closest location to dayton to minimize travel.

ummm.....the tourney is already expanded ......to 347 teams.....it's just that the 281 teams that dont make the ncaa tourney this week lost in the first/second/thrid round tourney games last weekend....IN THEIR CONF TOURNEYS
