YTD Record: 28-23 for +9.55 units

Successfully stayed away from mid-week games this week. No time for detailed write-ups but this is what I?m going with today:

Virginia -150 (vs. Clemson) for 1 unit ? Clemson is a very good squad (as shown by their #12 ranking), however Virginia is better in every facet in my mind: offensively, defensively, starting pitching and bullpen. Danny Hultzen gets the start for Virginia and has been almost unhittable (1.06 ERA, .138 OBA) and should be able to outlast Clemson?s ace Casey Harman.

Tennessee +130 (vs. LSU) for 1 unit ? went against LSU and starting pitcher Austin Ross last Friday and will do the same this week. Ross has got hit hard in his last two outings, and consequently those 2 teams were the only decent competition he has faced. Tennessee isn?t a great hitting team but does have some pop on offense and Ross has given up 4 dingers on the year. Bryan Moragado starts for the Volunteers. He got shelled 4 weeks ago in a game I took Tennessee vs. Oregon St. He has had three quality starts since then and I think he can get the win tonight at home.

Ole Miss -120 (vs. Florida) for 1 unit ? Even though the Gators are the #2 team in the nation, will gladly take Drew Pomeranz (Ole Miss? starter) at this small price. Pomeranz is pitching as well as anyone in the country and may be a top 10 draft pick this summer.

Miami -125 (@ NC State) for 4 units ? Wolfpack have a better offense on paper but have played very weak competition so far. Starter Chris Hernandez (Miami) has a big edge over Jake Buchannon (NC State). Hernandez, a Junior, is getting back to the form that had him as a Frosh All-american two years ago as he has a 1.97 ERA and .193 OBA. Miami also has a big edge in the bullpen as well.

Quickly here is what I?m going with today:

San Diego +160 (@ Coastal Carolina) for 2 units ? really like USD at this dog price with Sammy Solis pitching for them and Coastal pitching Jim Birmingham.

Oklahoma -130 (@ Nebraska) for 4 units ? big advantage all around for the Sooners.

Ole Miss -130 (vs. Florida) for 1 unit ? like Ole Miss to take the second game as their starter Aaron Barrett has done really well in his last 2 outings.

Just going with 3 small plays to close out the weekend:

Georgia Tech -115 (@ North Carolina) for 1 unit ? UNC?s bullpen imploded again yesterday. Their pen woes and the starting pitch edge to GaTech makes this worth a small play.

Miami -130 (@ NC State) for 1 unit ? another starting pitching and bullpen edge for this play.

Oklahoma -115 (@ Nebraska) for 1 unit ? no named starter for the Sooners but their overall pitching depth is better and Nebraska?s starter has really been hit hard when he has faced decent competition.

Disregard the GaTech play. Though the books still have this on the board, game is already started. UNC up 3-0 in the bottom of the 3rd. Buying the game back (plus some on UNC) but will not count either game towards my record.

1-1 as Miami wins 4-0 but Oklahoma gets blasted 10-0.

Should have stuck with GaTech due to the bullpen issues I cited. UNC gave up 5 runs with 2 outs in the top of the 9th to send the game into extra innings. GaTech scored 3 more in the 10th to win 11-8.

Kansas St. -170 (vs. Wichita St.) - Wildcats have the much better offense. Wichita St.'s midweek starter has made four starts. First two were good agaisnt really meager competition, last two against decent competition he was hit hard.

Updated Record: 36-25 for +23.60 units (last record was wrong on the win #)

Won last night as K-State handles Wichita 8-3.

W. Kentucky +105 (@ Kentucky) for 1 unit ? taking a stab at the small dog price with the Hilltoppers having a much better offense. Pitching matchup has Junior Brian Edelen starting for WKU (3.32 ERA; 1.57 WHIP; .247 OBA and 11 K?s in 21 2/3 IP). Edelen has compiled those stats over 4 starts and 6 relief outings, and has faced decent competition in a couple of his starts (Vandy and Miss St.). Kentucky is throwing Frosh Sam Kidd (6.61 ERA; 1.65 WHIP; .293 OBA and 12 K?s in 16 1/3 IP). He?s had 3 starts and 3 relief outings and his starts have been against pretty meager competition. Would give a slight edge in starting pitching to WKU and coupled with the offensive advantage, makes it worth a small play.
