Updated Record: 37-25 for +24.60 units
Arizona St. -225 (@ Oregon) for 1 unit ? quite a bit of chalk, but the Sun Devils are as solid as their 23-0 record and #2 ranking indicate. Offensively ASU?s #?s are staggering (9+ runs/game; .358 avg.; .566 slug; .463 OB%) and it isn?t against cupcakes as they have the #21 SOS. More impressive than those numbers imo is the fact that they have drawn more walks than they have struck out. Pitching wise advantage goes to the Sun Devils as well. Seth Blair starts for them tonight (3.78 ERA; 1.35 WHIP; .264 OBA and 37 K?s in 33 1/3 IP). Blair has been hit hard in two recent outings against power clubs (Cal and Auburn) and has given up 7 HR?s on the season, but Oregon has a pretty pedestrian offense so I believe he can handle them like he did last year (2 H, 0 ER in 7 2/3 IP). Oregon sends out Tyler Anderson for the start (2.55 ERA; 1.19 WHIP; .217 OBA and 36 K?s in 35 1/3 IP). Anderson is a decent pitcher but was rocked his last time out against the one potent offense he?s faced (Zona). He had trouble last year as a Frosh against ASU (10 H, 6 ER in 4 2/3 IP) and believe the same thing will happen tonight. Bullpens are good for both squads, but enough of a difference in starting pitching and offense will have ASU prevail in this one.
