different shape tonight, not just the starter for the pirates...

The Pirates scratched Ross Ohlendorf from his scheduled start tonight against the San Francisco Giants, and his place will be taken by left-hander Brian Burres, whose contract was purchased from Class AAA Indianapolis.

Also:

? Reliever Hayden Penn was designated for assignment, clearing room on the 40-man roster for Burres.

? Starter Daniel McCutchen was optioned to Indianapolis.

? Reliever Joel Hanrahan was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list.

The Pirates announced these moves on their Twitter account.

Ohlendorf felt discomfort after getting out of bed this morning. He is expected to make his next start, Saturday in Pittsburgh against the Cincinnati Reds.

Burres had been set to pitch tonight for Indianapolis.

Burres is a low-velocity lefty and a mediocrity by any standard--the best available option only because Brad Lincoln just pitched and Kevin Hart is a mess--so tonight should be pretty much unbearable.
