I don't know if you are on the development side of tech, but what are your thoughts on Apple's new rules for developing for iPhone/Touch/iPad?

I think it's a complete load of horse shit and will probably end up being their demise if they don't back off of it.

Then you have this:

Apple staking trademark rights to the word "Pad" and using "Pad" as a suffix.

Ever heard of a notePAD/maxi-PAD?

I really don't get these moves. they have the world by the balls right now, and it appears they are prepared to prove their mightiness.

Isn't this type of behavior by others what caused the mass exodus to Apple in the first place?

It seems like Apple is greedy - and maybe they are. But it seems to me that they are doing everything they can to slow down other companies from riding their coat tails. It seems like everything they do their products get copied and their market share gets cut. It sucks for them no matter how many billions of dollars they have. In terms of slowing down other companies - I have to agree with their moves.

However - they really need to be super friendly to developers. They could end up causing their own downfall if they don't change some of their policies.

This is where I see them really shooting themselves in the foot.

With the latest release, we have decided that we will more than likely never develop another native iPhone/iPad/Touch app for our products.

I believe sticking to the browser-based mobile native apps will prove a more fruitful endeavor for most companies.

If that is the overall mindset, it will destroy the lead that Apple has worked so perfectly to create with their app store up to this point.
