I was out for a bike ride on two lane highway, out of corner of my eye I see a little puppy running straight for the road. I get off the bike and scoop him up as he hits the shoulder. Wasn't looking good for the little puppy, not saying he would have been hit, but he wouldn't last long on that highway.
After I pick up the little guy I hear splashing in the water. Well it turns out the little puppy was trying to cross the highway to get to the water and join his buddy. I carried the little guy across the road to the
water. Obviously these guys are lost, nobody is anywhere. So I spend the next 20 minutes trying to get the big dog to trust me and come over to me. The little puppy is clearly buddies with the big dog. I put the puppy down and he just stays by my side. After 20 minutes the big dog finally comes out of the water and trusts me enough to let me grab him.
The big dog has a collar and the address is on the collar. The address is about 1-2 miles away so I take off my shoelace and tie that around the dog collar.
The little puppy just follows me and his buddy so I don't have to carry the little guy. I deliver the two dogs to the owners. Walked back to bike and smelled of wet doggy.
The two dogs had an adventure, just glad I didn't see the puppy smushed on the pavement:scared
Good thing the dog had a collar on:SIB
And yes......perhaps me saving the doggies life is a tad dramatic. But not good odds mixing two lost dogs and a highway.
Moral of the story.......HAVE ID ON YOUR DOGS
