The kid's mom and grandmother are locked up for 20 and 40 years respectively. Ask him about how that affected his childhood and adolescent years makes sense. Asking him if he harbors resentment toward either of them for 'abandoning' him' makes sense. Pouring salt in the wound by ask if she is a hooker is ridiculous. Were I running that outfit, Ireland's question would likely have been a terminatable offense.
Think about it this way......If Parcells would have asked Ireland that during his interview for the GM spot, would Ireland be working there today? Doubtful, particularly if he has any dignity.
Were an interviewer to ask me that last year when I was in the market for a new position, I would have told him to fuck off before walking out. In my early twenties I would have likely taken it to a physical level. :box2:

absolutely its relevant before giving someone 30 million dollars, I think I want to know his upbringing. See Lawrence Phillips, Todd Marinovich, etc...Dez may be a model citizen, only time will tell, he did lie to the NCAA :shrug:
How does his mom being a prostitute apply to HIM? Even if she was, are you just going to assume that he's a bad kid because of it? Would you hold it against him because his mom made stupid decisions?
And I find it a bit hypocritical to even ask questions like this in a league where a guy like Leonard Little can kill someone and not even face any repercussions.
I understand that you are not overly bright, but how does this kid know if his mother was a prostitute when he was only 12 when she was sent away for a hard 20, which means he was likely 10 when she was arrested:shrug:
As I mentioned in my last post, there are hundreds or maybe thousands of questions about his upbringing that should be posed prior to investing millions, but the prositute question was out of line. Of course, this is just one man's opinion.

Today, the identity of Bryant's questioner has been revealed. Silver reports that Miami Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland extended the tasteless inquiry. According to ESPN Dallas, Ireland apologized to Bryant for using "poor judgment."
The question may have even outdone several other whoppers that were reportedly asked this year. Third overall pick Gerald McCoy says a team asked him whether he wears a G-string or jock strap. Rhodes scholar Myron Rolle was asked if he deserted his team by attending Oxford.

It is totally appropriate. I am about to pay dude an outrageous amount of money and he will be MY employee. If I want to know if he has been Sandy Koufaxed in the can then I can ask. I want to know what I am getting into............or out of for that matter

The question was perfectly fine. He is a future candidate for employment that may be taking close to 5% of my entire payroll so yeah I will ask him if he likes men if I want to. Let me find out he lies too. Who cares anyway? The whore is locked up for something might as well be for whoreing.
