YTD Record: 57-40 for +34.45 units

Today?s plays:

Texas -185 (@ K-State) for 4 units ? quite a bit of chalk on this play but worth it in my mind. Wildcats are a potent offensive club (average 8.4 runs per game) but Texas pitching staff is again arguably the best in the nation (2.13 team ERA). Texas? pitching is a big reason they are the #2 team in the country and on a 21 game winning streak! Pitching is the issue for K-State and should come into play tonight. Kyle Hunter (3.97 ERA; 1.34 WHP; .265 OBA) gets bumped up from the Saturday spot to the opening slot in the rotation, but due to injury not performance. I went against him last Saturday against Oklahoma, and though he was hit hard, K-State won a slugfest 14-9. Texas pitching is far superior and shouldn?t have an issue keeping their bats in check. Texas? starter tonight is Taylor Jungmann (2.30 ERA; 1.07 WHIP; .213 OBA) who has been lights out recently. He started off conference with two rough outings but in his last five starts has given up only 4 ER total in 36 2/3 IP. Hunter on the other hand has given up 4 ER in both of his last two outings despite not getting past 4 IP in each.

Florida -150 (@ Bama) for 2 units ? two teams that are pretty similar in terms of offense, defense and bullpens. Decent edge to Florida in starting pitching though. Frosh Hudson Randall goes for the Gators (3.30 ERA; 1.27 WHIP and .259 OBA), and he has done well his last couple outings. Bama sends out Soph Adam Morgan (5.79 ERA; 1.63 WHIP; .322 OBA). Morgan has been hammered in conference play as those #?s are even worse than the season long ones listed there.

Vandy +130 (@ LSU) for 2 units ? LSU is the better offensive club, but Florida showed last week in their sweep of LSU that decent pitching can keep LSU in check. Vandy has a better staff than Florida, especially their starter tonight Soph Sonny Gray (2.22 ERA; 1.19 WHIP; .205 OBA). And then there is LSU?s pitching problems which is a major wart for them. Anthony Ranaudo starts tonight, and it is evident he has lost a ton of velocity and isn?t the same pitcher he was a year ago.

Very disappointing night last night going 1-2 only winning the Florida play. Texas leaves a ton stranded losing 2-1 while Vandy loses 16-15 in 10 innings. Vandy at one time had as big as a 7 run lead, very disappointing.

Will try to bounce back with these:

Texas -175 (@ K-State) for 5 units ? K-State doesn?t have a starting pitcher listed and Texas will throw another all-american candidate in Cole Green (1.62 ERA; 0.88 WHIP; .179 OBA). K-State used two of their better relievers last night which will hurt them today, especially with the starter being a ?. Not many teams are capable of handing Texas two straight losses, and I really don?t believe it happens today.

Bama +150 (vs. Florida) for 1 unit ? teams are pretty even in terms of offense and starting pitching today. Slight edge in the pen to Bama imo. Home dog at this price looks pretty appealing to me in this spot.

Arkansas +105 (@ Ole Miss) for 2 units ? Razorbacks are the better offensive club and I also like the pitching edge they have. Frosh DJ Baxendale (3.79 ERA; 1.19 WHIP) is starting for Arkansas, and though it is just his 3rd start this year, he has experience as he has been their closer for much of the year. Ole Miss is going with Aaron Barrett (3.72 ERA; 1.24 WHIP), who has been good overall on the season, but has been hit hard in recent conference outings. Advantage in the pen to the Hogs too.

UCLA -165 (@ Washington) for 4 units ? UCLA holds distinct advantages over Washington across the board. Soph Andrew Kittredge (Washinton?s starter) has some potential and has pitched better in conference play but still pales in comparison to Trevor Bauer, UCLA?s starter.

didn't realize this one was an early start:

San Diego +100 (@ Oregon) for 2 units - USD is a hot team right now and much better offensively and at least a match pitching wise in comparison to Oregon. No announced starters for either squad, but with no games this upcoming weekend, I wouldn't be suprised to see USD's friday starter (Blair) pitch a few innings.

looking at the other two lined games now.

well that USD play turned into dog crap quickly. Down 6-0 after 1 and 7-0 after 2.

adding these:

Ville +110 (@ Vandy) for 2 units - no listed starters for either team, but Cards are a very good and explosive offensive club. Will gladly take them at a small dog play against a team they are matched pretty evenly with.

UCLA -125 (@ UC Irvine) for 4 units - Bruins have a slight edge offensively but a big advantage when it comes to pitching. Irvine is starting a RS Frosh in his first college start. Andy Lines has a 5.79 ERA in only 9 1/3 IP, covering 16 appearances. He has some potential with 13 K's in that limited time but also has 7 BB's. UCLA turns to Senior Garrett Claypool (2.02 ERA; 0.82 WHIP; .175 OBA and 61 K's in 62 1/3 IP). I've backed UCLA with Claypool a couple times this season. The guy has experience and would be a weekend starter basically any other school in the nation.

horirible day going the 0-fer. USD gets clocked 13-4; UCLA loses 2-1 and Ville loses 11-10 in 17 innings. Cards blew 2 run leads in the bottom of the 9th and the bottom of the 14th.
