by Patrick J. Buchanan
Recently by Patrick J. Buchanan: What War with Iran Means

Faisal Shahzad sought to massacre scores of fellow Americans in Times Square with a bomb made of M-88 firecrackers, non-explosive fertilizer, gasoline and alarm clocks.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to blow up a U.S. airliner over Detroit with a firebomb concealed in his underpants. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan shot dead 13 fellow soldiers at Fort Hood and wounded 29.
Why did these men attempt the mass murder of Americans who did no harm to them? What impelled them to seek martyrdom amid a pile of American corpses?
Though all were Muslims, none seems to have been a longtime America-hater or natural-born killer. Hasan was proud to wear Army fatigues to mosque. Shahzad had become a U.S. citizen. Abdulmutallab was the privileged son of a prominent Nigerian banker.
The New York Times ties all three to the Internet sermons of Anwar al-Awlaki, a Yemen-based imam born and educated in the United States who inspires Muslims worldwide to jihad against America. But, following Sept. 11, al-Awlaki had been seen as a bridge between Islam and the West.
Now President Obama has authorized his assassination.
What do the four have in common?
All were converted in manhood into haters of America willing to kill and die in a jihad against America. And the probability is high that there are many more like them living amongst us who wish to bring the war in the Af-Pak here to America.
But what radicalized them? And why do they hate us?
Taking a cue from George W. Bush, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said of the Times Square bomber, "We will not be intimidated by those who hate the freedoms that make ... this country so great."
This was the mantra after Sept. 11. We are hated not because of what we do in the Middle East, but because of who we are: people who love freedom and stand for women's rights.
And that is why they hate us ? and why they come to kill us.
In a way this is a comforting thought, because it absolves us of the need to think. For no patriotic American is going to demand we surrender our freedom to prevent fanatics from attacking us.
The Wall Street Journal's Bret Stephens advances a parallel view. We are hated, he says, because of our popular culture.
We are loathed in the Islamic world, Stephens writes, because of "Lady Gaga ? or, if you prefer, Madonna, Farrah Fawcett, Marilyn Monroe, Josephine Baker or any other American woman who has ... personified what the Egyptian Islamist writer Sayyid Qutb once called 'the American Temptress.'"
This hatred is at least 60 years old, says Stephens, for Qutb wrote even before "Elvis, Playboy, the pill, women's lib, acid tabs, gay rights, Studio 54, Jersey shore and ... Lady Gaga."
Qutb's revulsion at American degeneracy is why his legion of Islamic followers hate us.
<TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=125 align=left><TBODY><TR><TD>
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Again, a comforting thought. For, if Lady Gaga is the problem, there is nothing we Americans can do about it.
Yet, this is as self-delusional as saying the FLN set off bombs in movie theaters and cafes in Algiers to kill the French because of what Brigitte Bardot was doing on screen in "And God Created Woman."
America's toxic culture may be a reason devout Muslims detest us. It is not why they come here to kill us. Mohammed Atta's friends did not target Hollywood, but centers and symbols of U.S. military and political power.
U.S. Marines were not attacked by Hezbollah until we inserted those Marines into Lebanon's civil war. No Iraqi committed an act of terror against us before we invaded Iraq. And if the Sept. 11 killers were motivated by hatred of the immorality of our society, what were they doing getting lap dances in Delray Beach?
Osama bin Laden declared war on us, first and foremost, to end the massive U.S. presence on sacred Saudi soil that is home to Mecca and Medina.
Some may insist this was not his real motive. But, apparently, the Saudis believed him, for they quickly kicked us out of Prince Sultan Air Base.
As for the Taliban, they would surely make short work of Lady Gaga. But their stated grievance is the same as Gen. Washington's in our war with the British: If you want this war to end, get out of our country.
By Occam's razor, the simplest explanation is usually the right one. Looking at America's wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Maj. Hasan, Abdulmutallab and Shahzad decided that what we call the war on terror was in reality a war on Islam.
All decided to use their access to exact retribution for our killing of their fellow Muslims.
We are being attacked over here because we are over there.
Nor is it a good sign that U.S. intelligence is reporting that rising numbers of U.S. Muslims are making Internet inquiries about how and where to get training to bring the war home to America.

Good article Lumi. Although I don't think it matters how many authors, historians, politicians and professors explanations we offer Rusty for "why they hate us".

He's like a wounded dog who's backed himself into a corner, barking at the ASPCA officers who are there to help him.

Under a mask.
So let me get this straight when Iraq invaded Kuwait we should of just turned our heads. We have no right in being involved in foreign affairs in the middle east??

Are you kidding me?I have news for you Saddam made his own bed.He was lucky we didn't get him the first time. You like how Iran is being run?

I'm sorry I strongly disagree with this article and TU and his disciples warped ways of thinking.Just because YOU believe it doesn't mean more than 90% of the others do too.

How can you honestly say the reason's they hate us.The United States has done alot over the years.

Some campaigns have succeeded, some have failed.Who's to say there agenda in the middle east isn't for the good of humanity.Who's to say that its all bad?You people are so negative in your thinking that it is perceived as bad.

You still seem to ignore the fact that Iraq and Afghanistan happened AFTER 9/11.And Iraq technically was a conflict that started in the 90's.I'm glad we got involved to stop that madman.

The way you guy's think we should of just let Hitler run rampart in Europe.I'm glad TU isn't running the show. We'd all be bending over to the warped minded one.

Both the chuckle heads in Iraq and Afghanistan were CIA Assets who went off the reservation ! Sound familiar ? Manny Noriega....

"George W's grandfather Prescott Bush was among the chief American fundraisers for the Nazi Party in the 1930s and '40s. In return he was handsomely rewarded with plenty of financial opportunities from the Nazis helping to create the fortune and legacy that his son George inherited."
Bush family, along with the Harrimans, Rockefellers, Nazis, neo-Nazis and leaders of the oil and pharmaceutical industries, has been instrumental in a plot to commit genetic genocide against "inferior races".
There are the evidence that AIDS was one of racial programs began in the 1920s with the founding of the Averill Harriman - Prescott Bush funded Eugenics Research Office. Accused accomplices include Planned Parenthood, the Nazi German government, and in post-war America, neo-Nazi led research under the auspices of the CIA, National Science Foundation, and Center for Disease Control.

Bush and WWII
President Bush's family had already played a central role in financing and arming Adolf Hitler for his takeover of Germany; in financing and managing the buildup of Nazi war industries for the conquest of Europe and war against the U.S.A.; and in the development of Nazi genocide theories and racial propaganda, with their well-known results.

The Hitler Project and Bush
In many ways, Bush's Hamburg-America Line was the pivot for the entire Hitler project. G.W.'s grandfather and great-grandfather, Prescott Bush and George Herbert Walker, were among the chief American fundraisers for Germany's Nazi Party. Through industrialist Fritz Thyssen, the Bush-run Union Banking Company and W. A. Harriman & Company, the Bushes sold over $50 million in German bonds to American investors, starting in 1924. Thyssen in turn pumped money into the infant Nazi Party, which had proved its desire to rule and its willingness to use brute force in 1923's Munich Beer Hall Putsch.

A question for brainstorming -
Why the US waited for two years to declare war on Hitler?
September 1, 1939 - The Beginning of WWII. Britain's declared war on Germany, September 3, 1939. Why did the US declare war against Hitler only on December 11, 1941 (two years later)? Is it because war is the biggest business in the US and big corporations did not finish their business with Hitler (including the key-figure - Bush's family)? Is it the double-agent syndrome? "If we see that Germany is winning we ought to help Russia and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany and that way let them kill as many as possible." --Harry S Truman, in 1941, after the Germans invaded Russia. (That means ... those idiots do not know they are setup to kill each other just because we want to be richer for their expense.)
Why are the archives of WW II are still classified? Is it because military technology of that time still has a value or is it because the technology of making money on war is still valuable? Hitler would not be so powerful if some of the US corporations, like IBM would not help HItler to build military and financial base . While the World fought against Hitler - US corporations (led by key figure Jews) were making business with Hitler. The purpose - to build financial benefits and political advantages on the consequences of war (if only one New York has more Jews than Israel - it's hard to say where Jerusalem is really located). I would say US key-Jews sacrificed reformed (ordinary) Jews lives to make money and political benefits from their death.

Ford and GM Scrutinized for Alleged Nazi Collaboration

Henry Ford and the Nazis

I would like to outline the importance attached by high [Nazi] officials to respect the desire and maintain the good will of "Ford," and by "Ford" I mean your father, yourself, and the Ford Motor Company, Dearborn. (Josiah E. Dubois, Jr, Generals in Grey Suits, London: The Bodley Head, 1953, p. 250.)
Henry Ford is often seen to be something of an enigma among the Wall Street elite. For many years in the 20s and 30s Ford was popularly known as an enemy of the financial establishment. Ford accused Morgan and others of using war and revolution as a road to profit and their influence in social systems as a means of personal advancement. By 1938 Henry Ford, in his public statements, had divided financiers into two classes: those who profited from war and used their influence to bring about war for profit, and the "constructive" financiers. Among the latter group he now included the House of Morgan. During a 1938 New York Times interview1 Ford averred that:

Somebody once said that sixty families have directed the destinies of the nation. It might well be said that if somebody would focus the spotlight on twenty-five persons who handle the nation's finances, the world's real warmakers would be brought into bold relief.

So then Rusty, you're agreeing they hated us before 9/11. That's good, because I kinda doubt 9/11 would've occurred if their hatred of us didn't predate 9/11.

But I think we're finally making some progress. So now that we've established they hated us before 9/11, we need to establish just how far back their hatred of us goes and what their motivation for hating us is. So far, I've given you my explanation for why they hate us and Noam Chomsky, Ron Paul and Chalmers Johnson have given you their explanations as well.

Are you EVER going to give us YOUR explanation for why they hate us?

Well I sure hope he can find someone who can tell us why Noam Chomsky, Ron Paul, Chalmers Johnson and most authors and historians who've studied recent history in the Middle East are ALL wrong. :142smilie
