Cavs/Celts Game 6 OVER

I've given my analysis on the spread tonight in others' threads. (Essentially, I like Boston but am a bit worried about the refs.)

I haven't seen a ton of predictions (or write-ups) on the total tonight though. I just think that 193 is too low (and if you can find 192', all the better). I feel that both teams will bring it tonight on offense, and breaking down the possible outcomes, it just seems all too plausible in any scenario:

  • Very close game all the way through: Obviously, lots of free throws, lots of timeouts, even potential OT with a 1 point line. This type of game, regardless of outcome, points to an over for inherent reasons.
  • Celts win fairly convincingly: Though this would likely entail a solid defensive performance by Boston (a strike against my pick...), but I still think they'd get a least a couple guys absolutely hot given their strong starting 5 and a pretty deep bench (Say Pierce and Rondo combine for 50, a couple bench guys get 8-10, I feel the rest will get made up for between Allen, Garnett, Perkins, etc.) Moreover, a Celtic lead in the late game means a lot of 3-points attempts by Cleveland.
  • Cavs win fairly convincingly: Seems to me this would require Lebron to go off, a good amount of transition game, solid overall team shooting percentage, and/or a heavy Shaq presence in the paint. Also, don't forget that Lebron has straight up said he's going to get aggressive... could be lots of fouls. I simply refuse to believe that Boston will fall flat with the crown they'll have backing them tonight.

So in conclusion, I feel like all sides point to an Over. I admit, I hate being on Boston and the Over, as I'm sure I'm completely siding with the public, but sometimes we as bettors overanalyze, the ball just bounces the way it appears it "should".

...Think I'm feeling this one boys. Just a premonition, but I suppose that's what this board is for...

Unfortunately, I don't see that one posted anywhere. (Thought to be honest, I'm thinking after the media deal made out of it last year, I'd take the over for even money.)

Good stat. Not backing off my play of course, but duly noted. I would encourage everyone to check out as many angles as possible before placing their bets.

BOL to me though... trends are made to be broken, right? :SIB

As I expected, I see some decent value in the 2H lines here. I've been watching very closely, and I think I've got some decent insight...

I think the minor foul trouble for the Celtics may have moved this line just a bit, and that's where I see the value. Personally, I might actually just let things ride, but IF I didn't already have a good amount on the Celts, I'd be strongly considering playing them in the 2H. Actually, I'd buy them to +1/2 for -130, just to be safe. A 2-point win certainly isn't implausible.

As for the actual matchup, I think Rondo is more likely to remain hot than Moe Williams, which is definitely a nod to Boston. Also, if Doc would quit sucking and keep Garnett in, he's got a solid second half in him. Finally, Ray Ray has been playing damn smart ball, but has been a bit of a non-factor stat-wise. I expect him to improve on that a bit. More finally :tongue , I don't mind that Pierce has 3 fouls... I think Boston is just as well off with his shot-forcing ass on the bench.

Also, if I had to pick a side on the total, I'm leaning over 97'. I got a good number about 48 hours ago at Under 196, and bet heavy on the over at 193, so I'm kinda hoping for a middle chance.

Well, that got ugly quick. My apologies to anyone who might have tailed. :(

I was really right on pace until halfway through the 4th quarter. I kept checking the live lines and the O/U was hanging around 195 for the whole game... I thought I had a serious chance at hitting my middle. Could have been huge...

Anyway, a downright pathetic finish by the entire Cavs team. Personally, I'll take 1-1 on the night, but I would rather have won the one I made a whole thread about... :mj1:

Anyway, I hope everyone else faired well. :toast:
