The President of the United States has signed legislation that now causes PartyGaming to have to cease taking wagers from US customers. We will also suspend accepting deposits from US customers while we reevaluate our business model for the US and assess potential offerings to US customers that would be within the new law.

This will not affect the Play For Free games and we will be seeking to provide additional products and services to our US player community.

Naturally, your Account will remain accessible.

Non-US players and all Play For Free services will not be affected.

Pay-Pro is the cashier service provided by the companies within the PartyGaming group responsible for the payment processing of all transactions related to PartyGaming's real money products and services.

This thread is great.

Partygaming pulled out in 2006 during Bush.

U.S. legislation

On September 29, 2006, the U.S. Congress passed the Safe Port Act and attached unrelated anti-gambling language to the act. This legislation is known as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

On October 2, 2006, PartyGaming announced that it would "suspend all real money gaming business with US customers" in light of the passage of the Safe Port Act.[8] George W. Bush signed the act into law on October 13, and PartyGaming suspended offerings of real-money games to U.S. players. Free play games and non-US customers were not affected.[9]

PartyGaming Mulls Return to US Market

May 9, 2010 by H. L. Edwards ? 2 Comments

PartyGaming, the parent company of Internet poker giant PartyPoker, is considering a return to the lucrative United States gaming market. The company cites movement towards online gambling legislation as the basis for its reevaluation.

Once the dominant online casino and poker site in the world, the company pulled out of the US when it enacted the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). At the time, a US Attorney stated, ?The conduct alleged in this case reveals a blatant effort to circumvent gaming and tax laws. The notion that the type of activity alleged here is legal because it is conducted over the Internet from offshore is pure fiction.? PartyGaming was never found guilty of any wrongdoing, but pulled out of the US market anyway.

A new movement in the US to legalize online gambling has moved PartyGaming to reconsider. ?We are seeing increased momentum towards regulating online poker,? said PartyGaming Chief Executive Jim Ryan. ?It?s possible that it could happen this year and we?re prepared if it does.?

Massachusetts Representative Barney Frank has been among the Congressional leaders who are pushing to legalize and regulate online gambling. In addition, states such as Nevada, New Jersey, Florida and others are looking at state-level measures to regulate online wagering, regardless of the implementation of the UIGEA.

Last year, PartyGaming was cleared of any wrongdoing for its previous operations in the US; this plus legalization effort at both the state and national levels is prompting the change in corporate policy. As the legal winds in the US change, PartyGaming is preparing to reenter this extremely highly profitable market.

PartyGaming in US return after bumper profits
Daily Mail
7 May 2010, 9:49am

PartyGaming is hoping to make a triumphant return to the US market after reporting soaring revenues.

The first quarter of the year brought a 27% bump in revenues, as the online gambling firm's casino, bingo and sportsbook divisions all performed well.

Revenues in PartyGaming's poker division declined due to rivals offering online poker to customers in the US, where online gambling was banned in 2006.

But chief executive Jim Ryan said the group (down 11p to 274p) was preparing to move back into the lucrative US market if the Obama administration presses ahead with an expected relaxation of betting laws.

The industry is seen by analysts as primed for consolidation and Ryan said the group was already in conversation with US firms about forming partnerships to benefit from the likely lifting of the ban on online poker in particular.

So we get fucked under Bush when he signs this nonsense after they sneak it through in the middle of the night, and now things are starting to look better for us and somehow Hedge blames Obama.

Shocking.
