The tricky thing is.... you don't really know if those stats offered are true...

If there was just one site to look at that added up several diff books and said,
"Here is the way it stands as of right now... this is the % of bets on this tm, this % on that tm... and $ is this much one way, that much the other"

but..... that's not what they do... not that I've ever seen.

I don't know how accurate or truthful this particular site is for that type of info, but I look at one call sbrodds.com....
last time I put the name in there it got removed because it is a competitor to mj's....

It would be nice if mj's had this info available, but it's very possible there is no site available w/that info.

if you find one... please share it w/the group

There are TONS of consensus sites, but you will never get the same answer on a game. One site could say 60% on the over, while another may say 40% on the over. Furthermore, there are sites that are informational only, and then there are sportsbooks that give out the percentages. Personally, I would never trust anything a sportsbook tells you. Like I've said before, a sportsbook is not going to give you good information that helps you take their money. If anything, I would assume the opposite. As for the other sites, I don't assume they are trustworthy, either. Who's to say the Vegas books aren't paying them to put out bad info?

The one thing I would say is if you can somehow find a site that puts out accurate percentages, then follow the Vegas line where the line is going in the opposite direction than the money, that MIGHT be a good play. If Vegas is purposely enticing people with a line, and it goes against the percentages, I think that is worthy of notice. However, I think the whole 'fading the public' just for the sake of going against them, no matter what Vegas is doing with the line, is pointless. If fading the public was as easy as people make it out to be we would all be rich. :142smilie

:mj07: Looks like LoB beat me to it. So, yeah, what he said. I agree though. No reason whatsoever to trust any of those sites. I wouldn't want to risk my money based on what those sites are saying, but to each his own.

As for the sites themselves, I don't really know. A few years ago I knew of 3 or 4 sites and tracked them for a few days, then realized it was a waste of time because they all gave out different info.

Yeah, there are days when fading the public works, and days when it doesn't. Personally, I don't think it's any better or worse than just capping the games on their own merit.

Trust me, if someone were to come on this site and kill it year after year by fading the public on every play, I would be the first one to hop on the train. Who doesn't like easy winners? That's never happened though -- at least in the 4+ years I've been here.

Another thing I didn't mention before is that it's not just the percentages that matter, but the amount of money being bet. People assume that whatever side has the higher percentage is automatically the public, but it could be sharps betting that side as well. I'm not even sure if it's possible to get that info, but maybe it is.

Look around and you will find one.....If i post the place i use it will get blanked out......That`s what baseball is all about for the most part....Watch the lines....Check for movement....Especially on a day like tomorrow when there are 15 games......No matter what anyone says.....There is more to it,then just saying this team is better then that team....Or that pitcher is better then that one......I believe in SHARPS and all that crap....I also believe Vegas has a crystal ball out on some of these games....They know the winner before the game even starts.:mj07:

Fading the public and watching the lines drop is my style....And i`m sticking to it :0074

Get SHARP soonerNation and you`ll be okay.

If you follow line movement/percentages, how can you post plays early in the day? Wouldn't you need to watch the movement most of, if not all day, to see which side to bet on? I'm not being a smartass, just curious. I've known others who tracked line movement and they usually tracked right up until the games start...

I didn`t assume Quacker.....He came into my thread yesterday and asked...What site i use for consensus?

I assumed you were talking about this thread. And either way, I went back and read my post and it definitely came off more "dickish" then I meant it to. That wasn't my intention. My bad.

Sorry for the hijack, Sooner. GL to you guys with your plays...

I USE THE CONSENSUS IN GAMES ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOOK FOR LINES THAT ARE MOVING THE WRONG WAY (those hit like 85+% of the time when I have bet em through the years; and there are many of em... MIL/LAA game was a perfect example today) Everyone on LAA and the line dropped from 149 to 140 before the game.... Easy pick in my book!!!! And lo and behold, meltdown city! (they must know exactly what bullpen peeps are coming out after the starter screws up giving the Grand Slam)

MIL BETTER HOLD ON TO THIS GAME!!!

Be nice to see Bal come back and win too in the 9th!
