YTD Record: 105-84 for +50.35 units

A few small futures to start things off:

ASU -125 to win bracket A for 3 units ? I typically don?t like taking futures on the fav?s , but they are the clear cut team on their side of the bracket. No other team?s pitching on that side can stack up to theirs.

TCU +300 to win bracket B for 2 units ? so TCU is the longshot from this side of the bracket, I just don?t get it. This isn?t a squad like Southern Miss was last year. Quality club with pitching depth that shouldn?t have an issue going toe-to-toe with anyone. I honestly expected them to be slightly behind UCLA as fav?s for this bracket. Looking at this further, the odds don?t make sense. FSU is +250 and TCU is -230 against the Noles in their first game.

TCU +1000 to win the CWS for 1 unit ? again don?t understand this. Stated above they aren?t like S. Miss last year, they also aren?t like Fresno a few years back when they won it all.

FSU +200 first to be eliminated bracket B for 1 unit ? They don?t have the pitching to match any other team on their side of the bracket, but their bats can get hot, so a real small play.

Also found out that one of UCLA?s leading hitters, 3-hole hitter and 2B Tyler Rahmatulla, is out after suffering a broken wrist in the dog pile celebrating the Bruins Super Regional win. Very unfortunate for UCLA.

for the games only one jumps out at me:

S. Carolina -110 (vs. Oklahoma) for 3 units - Like Blake Cooper (Gamecocks starting pitcher) and his performance in big games this year. Two pretty even clubs, but believe he sets USC a part and can get them in the winners bracket.

May have a small play on Florida, but will have to look at the game further. Will also be looking at the totals once they are set.

Bauer to start against Florida

Sophomore right-hander Trevor Bauer will start UCLA's opening game of the 2010 College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium on Saturday (4 p.m. PT/6 p.m. CT, TV: ESPN). Bauer enters this Saturday's contest with a 10-3 record and 3.02 ERA in 16 starts.

A second-team All-America selection this spring by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball, Bauer currently leads all Pac-10 pitchers with 141 strikeouts and 116.1 innings pitched. The native of Valencia, Calif., has moved into third place on UCLA's single-season strikeouts list.

Bauer earned the victory against LSU in UCLA's second game of the NCAA Los Angeles Regional, allowing three runs (one earned) and seven hits in eight-plus innings, notching 11 strikeouts and two walks against the defending national champions on June 5. He was named Most Valuable Player at the 2010 NCAA Los Angeles Regional.

Bauer has registered 10 or more strikeouts in six of his 16 starts, recording a career-high 15 strikeouts in UCLA's 5-2 win over Mississippi at the Whataburger College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas (March 13).

No. 6-national seed UCLA (48-14) takes on No. 3-national seed Florida (47-15) on Saturday, June 19. The Gators will counter with sophomore left-hander Alex Panteliodis (11-2, 3.26 ERA) against the Bruins. Fans can watch live on ESPN at 4 p.m. PT/6 p.m. CT or listen live, free of charge, at uclabruins.com.

adding:

Florida +150 (vs. UCLA) for 1 unit - I'm a sucker for wanting a dog and out of all of them in the first four games, Gators are the ones I like the best. UCLA is a very solid squad that I like, but with their #2 pitcher going instead of Gerrit Cole (Bauer is still a really good hurler) and their shifting lineup with their 2B out, think there is a small chance for Florida.

TCU/FSU Under 11 for 2 units

Florida/UCLA Under 10 for 2 units - going to make small plays on both Unders for a few reasons. Little bit of wind coming in from left field always helps in this park, rested pitchers with everyone's 'ace' going is another. In addition to the starters, there are some solid all-around pitching staffs in this tourney, better than what has been in Omaha in a few years honestly. 6 of the 8 clubs have team ERA's under 4 and the highest out of the entire CWS is Clemson at 4.72.

Temp is another factor as there will likely be some rain before the first game as well as before and perhaps during the 2nd game to help cool things off. balls really start flying out of Rosenblatt when the temps cross the 90 degree mark. Something to note for the next few days.

poor start so far going 1-3 with the TCU/FSU Under being the only one hitting, have lost the S. Carolina play, Florida play and the Florida/UCLA Under.

for today:

ASU/Clem Under 12.5 for 1 unit - early 10 am start (cst) after their game last night got postponed. Before the heat and wind pick up, believe it will be somewhat of a pitchers game, with Seth Blair from ASU driving it.

not going to touch the lines for the afternoon & evening games but will look at the totals when they are out.

better day getting each of the 3 plays on the totals. Did lose the FSU future as they hold on and Florida is the first team sent packing from that bracket.

CWS Record: 4-4 for -0.5 units

Not that this is news to anyone, but...

UCLA is going to be very tough to beat with the 3 starters that they can throw at you.

For Tuesday:

Oklahoma -120 (vs. Clemson) for 4 units ? two clubs are pretty even offensively. Sooners have a little more pop in their bats but Clemson?s better plate discipline (fewer K?s and more BB?s) has allowed them to score more runs per game (8.8 vs. 7.9). Defensively a big edge goes to the Sooners as they rank 12th nationally (3rd best of CWS squads) and Clemson is 135th nationally (worst of CWS teams). Pitching is another big edge to the Sooners. Firs their bullpen is deeper and more able to put out a rally in what will be a hot day in Omaha with a bit of wind blowing out to LF. Oklahoma will send out Bobby Shore to start who has been really good his last two outings. I went against him in the Super Regionals but he shut out a good hitting UVa club over 8 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 BB?s to lead Oklahoma to Omaha. The week prior he pitched the clinching game in the Regionals vs. UNC giving up 1 ER in 7 1/3 IP, with 4 H?s and 0 BB?s. Only 2 BB?s his last two outings is big considering the noted diligence of Clemson at the plate. On the year Shore?s stats are a 3.86 ERA; 1.31 WHIP; .280 OBA and 88 K?s in 91 IP. Shore struggled a bit late in conference play but appears to have righted the ship. On the other hand Clemson sends out their #2 guy Scott Weismann who has been shaky at best. On the season he has a 5.09 ERA; 1.40 WHIP; .274 OBA and 69 K?s in 92 IP. Weismann had a very good outing vs. S. Miss in the Regionals, but outside of that you need to go back to mid-April for his last decent start. In all the other starts in that period he was hit hard and often didn?t last long. Couple other intangibles working against Weismann is that he does have some life to his fastball, but he isn?t a proficient strikeout pitcher which would come in handy against a free-swinging Sooners team. The other thing to consider is he has given up 15 HR?s on the year (compared to 7 for Shore). Not good on a day where I feel like there could be some big #?s posted.

USC/ASU Over 10.5 for 2 units

OU/Clem Over 10.5 for 2 units - feel like the weather is setting up for this to be a big scoring day. Also getting deeper into team's pitching staffs doesn't hurt.

tig3rs - the ASU line is definitely inflated for them being the #1 overall seed and people thinking they won't go 0-2. I think they will win today, but they shouldn't be that big of a fav over a very capable Gamecock's team. Merril (ASU) has just been more consistent this year on the mound then Sam Dyson (USC). If that weren't the case I would take a small shot at USC, but just going to stay away.

definitely agree, they had the best staff of the 8 teams followed by TCU and ASU, however the latter two are both in the losers brackets now and will be playing extra games that will eat up their staffs. Was curious how UCLA would respond with the shifted lineup but they have done just fine. Not only do they have Rasmussen to go yet (which will mean Cole and Bauer will be completely rested when they are needed next), they have Claypool (their mid-week starter) who can go long-relief if any of their starters gets into trouble.

i chatted with them at 2betdsi. They said that it became official after 5 full, and they don't care if it was suspended ect. Pretty freaking weak. I'm sure if I had clemson it would have been canceled or continued.

baseball rules:

Baseball Official Game
For straight bets, a game is considered official after five innings of play (4 ? if the home team is winning).
Thereafter, if a game is called or suspended, the winner is determined by the score after the last FULL inning of play, unless the home team scores to tie or take the lead in the bottom half of the inning.
The score at the time the game is called then determines the winner.
When betting totals or run lines, the game must go nine innings (8 1/2 if the home team is winning). Extra innings are included in the final totals.

each book has its own defined rules.
